Meachem, Garcon and Robinson got big deals. A lot more than I'd pay any of them. Gaffney and Stallworth are currently unemployed. Royal might have been a nice pick up, but plays a similar role to Bess. Again, Naanee was a veteran minimum pickup on a one year deal. I just don't know how much energy can reasonably be expended wringing one's hands about that.

Do you have any reason to think that Philbin wanted any of those guys you listed? Do you believe that Philbin asked for one of them and Ireland just refused?

What's amazing is that Jeff Ireland's quality as a GM is being boiled down to his offseason activity with regard to the wide receiver position, when for all we know he could be doing exactly what his head coach wants in that regard, while the trench players and running back he acquired (10 players out of the starting 22) are dominating the league.

Of course it makes more sense to criticize him based on what could happen this season at the wide receiver position, rather than praise him for what is happening in the trenches and at running back.

Let me know when you have more than just a THEORY about what Ireland did at the wide receiver position is going to do to the team.

Maybe not if he wasn't being used as a 3rd WR, but in his role as either a starter or 3rd WR, he is being depended upon to do much more than I believe he will be able to do at an acceptable level of performance.

I don't know if Philbin asked for any particular player at any position. I do find it hard to believe he ever requested Naanee as the one and only UFA WR to be signed. Chad was still with the Pats at that time.
