I'm looking forward to seeing The Who at halftime. The over/under for Pete Townsend's windmills on guitar is 5 1/2.
You gotta love the Who Dat's after all that city has endured, and my heart will be cheering for them.
Indy is favored by 5. The over/under is at 56.
I'm going for the over on Townsend. :pointlol:
My head is saying Colts and over. My heart is arguing.
Your picks?

I like new orleans and would not have a problem if they won but i just want to see manning get his second ring so people will finally start to say that he is a better quarterback than tom brady....because he really is.

Honestly even though they used to be a rival, the Colts are my second favorite AFC team.
I was all on board though with the "lets get New Orleans a win" until that obnoxious "Who Dat" chant. Couple that with the fact that I've been running into some ridiculously cocky fans who need to be a but more humble, and yeah, no thanks.
I'll be pulling for the Colts. Great for NO if they get the win, but Colts all the way for me. -
I lived in N'Awlins for a couple of years. The "Who Dat" is a part of the city's past, and I like it. Good read.
When I first moved there, I got greeting of "Where Ya At?" They also said, when going to a supermarket, that they were "going to make groceries." I thought I needed a translator. :)
I found out that "Where Ya At" was a greeting from old Jazz musicians, asking where the other was playing, and adopted by the city.
The "going to make groceries" was something people used to do, in years gone by. Different families made different dishes, and shared them. It carried over.
After learning the history, I appreciated their ties to the past, and used the phrases daily. It is a good thing, and hardly obnoxious, when you know the origins.MikeHoncho likes this. -
Everything has a history.. learning one doesn't necessarily make something tolerable.
I want the Colts to win simply so I don't have to hear it. That and Geaux instead of Go and Who Dey Say Gon Beat Dem Saints.. when, in fact, other teams have already beat Dem Saints this year.
I hear NO is a wonderful city with wonderful atmosphere.. but man. -
I'll be picking the Colts in this one. Its hard to pick against Manning. That and, I dont care much for new orleans. For the most part though, I couldn't care less who wins.
Also, how is this Miami Dolphins related? -
-
colts and it wont be close. saints almost lost last week at home and the vikes had 7 TOs......colts by 10 atleast imo
-
If my Dolphins were in the SB, I'd be yelling whatever we came up with.
What's the harm in whos dat? Their proud, as we would be.
You guys can honestly say you wouldn't chant or find something to let everyone know your a fan and your team FINALLY made the SB?
When we do get there, I pity anyone who has to be around me, I know I'd never shut up. (I don't now LOL)
I'll pull for Manning because I've liked the Colts pretty well.
But, if NO wins, that'll be ok to.gafinfan and DolfanCole like this. -
I'm happy for the Saints and the city of New Orleans but I love Peyton Manning and think the Colts will win a semi close game, by about 10 points or so.
-
If "the who" plays the song 'eminence front", I'll be ok {i could listen to that guitar riff in that song all day}, if they dont, i'll be miserable because that song is about it for me when it comes to the Who.
Rootin for the saints...like that city. -
but for you

are you ****in serious? and iam assuming your a successful music producer right? GFY
i dont give a **** what you like to listen to. i know what i like to listen to....i dont have to enlighten you with anything. and i dont have to explain why i have my opinions.....but i shouldnt be bashed for having them.
imo the who is garbage. and its ridiculous they are playing the biggest gig of the year.
but i dont know music (according to you) and should obviously not post on this board enless my opinion meshes with yours right?
all this coming from the guy who starts this thread in the entirely wrong forum. didnt know the who, or this superbowl had anything to do with the miami dolphins specifically....... -

iam not in here saying "hey you....you know nothing about music cause you like the who....enlighten me to more great music....since your knowledge on the subject is obviously ginormous"
get it? -
I am definitely pulling for the Colts on this one. I just feel that if it comes down to which QB has the better game, I know not to bet against Peyton. He is a class act and I would love to see him get his second ring.
-
I am REALLY sorry that you took my post so seriously. That was not my intent.
I am no a music producer in any sense of the title. However. I did play bass in a band who backed up Chicago, and played with Procol Harum We were nothing special but, our guitar player got some session work with Clapton.
I was not in his class but, do know a wee bit about music. I did very much enjoy the music that was put out in those "days gone by" and do not see the same today.
IF you believe you know more than me, or have a different opinion, I do respect that.
Give me an example of what you think is better on current music compared to the bands I knew best?

I think the who are tolerable. What grates on my last nerves is that they're playing the who on CSI. Zeppelin had black dog in a car commercial a bit ago. There's even a Yes song on some commercial.
Back in the day when these bands were the bands that people in their 20's listened to they would have never, ever put those bands on the superbowl stage. Now they're older (and admittedly the people who listen to them are older as well) and it's kosher to do so? Granted the super bowl has also become more of a national event as well.
My dad was playing in bands and covering those type of musicians and it pisses him off more than it does for me. I realize that bands need to appeal to a lot of people to make a stage of that nature, but for once I would like to see a highly under-rated modern band make the cut. Something that's musically sound yet appealing. Not fake basically. -
I think the Colts win big honestly. However an annoying guy at work likes the Colts so I actually hope they lose.

Pizza vs. the burger? Clapton vs Stevie Ray vs. Hendrix? We still do it.
Debates are only pointless if you close your mind, and refuse to learn.
For example, Djphin tells me of four bands I do not know well. I'm gonna give a much closer listen, and may end up agreeing with him. -
As for the Superbowl, doesnt matter that much to me...but I guess I am leaning towards the Colts.
As for "The Who", I lost part of one ear drum listening to "Borris the Spiderman" etc in my youth, but just like Aerosmith a few years back, I have absolutely zero interest in watching men with one foot in the grave perform....just me. -
I look at guys like JT, Farve, Warner, and The Who (had to get that in there lol), and enjoy watching what they're doing when they should not be doing anything.
Sure, they are not what they once were. However, on a limited basis, they bring back many memories of what they used to do all the time. To me, that's kinda special.
