Interesting show, anyone else watching? I heard about it on Anthony Bourdain's blog a few weeks back and I've caught three episodes of the four or five which have aired. This is a guy who lives in Brooklyn, NY but is an avid hunter (to say the least!) who insists on feeding his family only meat that he has killed himself. The first episode was about one of his trips to Alaska to hunt and fish; he owns a property there with his brother and they go during the Summer, get as much meat and fish as they can, and bring it back to their families. I have to say that I find the guy more than a little bit full of himself; he gets a mite preachy at times about the whole "kill what you eat" thing. But overall I find the program entertaining and informative, and it is interesting to observe him struggling at times with the fine line between wanting and needing to harvest animals for food and the ethical boundaries that a good hunter must not cross. Check it out if you have a mind to; it's on the Travel Channel Sunday evenings. This Sunday's episode is about him in San Francisco...huh? I hope he doesn't do a lot of hunting in the Castro District.
The SF episode was absolutely stupid. Miss it if you can. But the others have been interesting enough that I've watched them each a couple times.
Next new episode is 8 Mar - "Scotland". Travel Channel is really screwing the pooch with this show, showing one new episode only every three weeks or so.
Just watched a few clips on the travel channel website. He does seem a bit wordy but it beats watching Bear Grylls drink his own pee every five minutes.
