Well, to me if he can handle the role, it just adds more depth and versatility to our Wr corps and makes that #5 Wr not as important. In fact if he shows he can handle all 3 roles (KR,Wr,Rb) it means there would be room to keep Egnew w/o sacrificing a good prospect like Lee Robinson or Mike Clay to make room.
Disgustipate pointed out he still makes poor decisions sometimes fielding kicks, that is the one thing he has consistently done badly even in the CFL.

They were seemingly intent on adding that type of element to the slot with Tavon Austin. It's the one missing element as far as I'm concerned. I've been hoping to hear this news.

Well, it would be great if he could, the one thing is with Keller our best 4 receiver sets would not include him, in fact it would be a toss up between Clay and Thigpen over what the #2 best 4 Wr set would look like.
To me, what I like is Thigpen is an X factor who has shown he can make explosive plays and is a threat for 2,000 all purpose yards, which with Welker would make him the only guy in the division likely to do that unless Leon Washington has a career rebirth in NE -
Wait... The pats signed little Leon ? Damn. Dude probably has half his career Tds against us.
One just last year too.
In 4 Wr sets with Keller on one side, I may be inclined to replace Gibson with Tiggy on the other !TiP54 likes this. -

It's a recent change, but entirely a new development- He seemed to be mostly a wide receiver last year, and he hasn't really made a big impact there this off-season. I think it's a much as them trying to find an angle where they can keep Thigpen now that they seem to have more runningbacks they like with the addition of Gillislee and Gray.
