It's really not that hard to find a back up QB that would **** their pants the way he did vs Chicago.... let him walk

Sign him, Rich Gannon Jr. imho.
-
I really don't care. Just don't want him to play.
-
-
Here's the formula. Take the total number of points he put up in his start against Chicago, multiply that times 643. Divide that by 3. You should get a binary answer between 1 and 0. If 0, then No. If 1, then Yes.

Thigpen came off the bench and led a late 85 yard TD drive against the Titans. I like that in a BACKUP QB.
-
Dump him.

I would love to know your plan.Ohio Fanatic, MarinePhinFan, DolfanJake and 1 other person like this. -
why would we want to keep a guy that can't beat out Henne?

at QB -
he could be a decent backup............he isnt that good.....you guys have never seen him play...you are going by what you hear from the media.....he had one good quarter and you guys thought he was the savior!! Then you got sent back to reality when he stunk up the joint against the Bears. You had that knee jerk reaction like always and you filled the radio air waves clammering for him to start. Apparently by reading these blogs, you continue to rant and rave to thigpen to start!!

thirteen total if you count Thig's runs
3-0 then

I sign him only with the understanding he will not start here. If he won't step in line with that, dump him.
-
make him the head coach

In remembering this you are right, but that's not what he said. He told us on camera in his 'on field interview' that he hadn't taken any snaps in quite a while. Could he mean that he is not being given reps in practice and then being thrust into these games? G-d, could the coaching staff be that dumb?
Sporano focused on Henne like a magnifying glass on an ant hill, and maybe, all but ignored a guy who read the defense better, the WR's liked better, a guy who plays with better tempo and can scramble. Toward the end of the year Sporano played Thigy more and more which was a little too later to give him snaps in my eyes.
The two QB's look almost equal to me with Henne being the coaches favorite. I know Ross favors Henne because he is a Michigan man, maybe by sticking with him Sporano was trying to satisfy the boss.gunn34 and DolfanJake like this. -
Meh... I really couldn't care less. He's a backup, nothing more. Similar to how every QB on our roster presently appears. see what other options are out there, if nothing better, then sign him. I wouldn't be rushing to get a deal done with him though.

Marshall likes Thigpen better because Thigpen will throw it up in triple coverage and Marshall wants the ball all the time everytime.jetssuck likes this. -

keep Thigpen, he's the better QB, trade henne for whatever we can get for the bum

23 says trade henne
keep thigpen
im all for it -
Trade Henne? For what? A 6th or 7th round pick? That's about all you could probably get for him right now. May as well just cut him (and, I'm by no means advocating that...just sayin').
As for Thiggy, man I don't know. I think he's young enough where he could improve in the areas he's weak in. And, he does seem to bring a spark to the game when he comes in off the bench. But, as a starter (in the event you'd need to rely on him as such) he's really not that good. I guess if we could come to terms on a contract that makes sense then sure...why not? But, he's not the answer in as much as Henne's not. My hope is we draft a QB with an early pick (either our first rounder, or a late first or early second if we trade back), let Penny try his latest comeback, and see if someone separates themselves as the starter in TC. -
Based on what? The garbage time he played in NE? The fat goose egg he laid against the Bears? Or the 1-12 record as a starter in KC?
Which of these 3 lead you to believe Thipen is a better QB than Henne?
I eagerly await your response, friend.
