Why is Channing Crowder my new hero? What quarterback would the Dolphins have selected if Chad Henne wasn't there in the second round? Wondering why I think Jason Taylor's stay in Hollywood might be coming to a close. I'll address all those issues in this installment of Things I think I think. There are five quarterbacks from the 2008 draft we are going to be able to compare forever. Matt Ryan, Brian Brohm, Joe Flacco, Chad Henne and John David Booty are the five rookie quarterbacks who most believe have the potential to be starters in the NFL. But which one will become a franchise quarterback? I'm not talking about the guy who inherits a franchise (Matt Ryan) whether he's ready or not. I'm talking about the next Ben Roethlisberger or Eli Manning (Isn't it funny Eli Manning wasn't Eli Manning until he won a title on that miracle fourth quarter catch?). Who do you think will have the best career? And before you vote, put your Dolphins allegiance aside. I'm banking on Flacco (surprise, surprise) after he spends a year learning and watching on Cam Cameron's slow as molasses QB program, which prefers to treat rookie passers like they are an infant still feeding on the nipple (who remembers that John Beck was still running the practice squad two weeks after Trent Green suffered that season ending concussion). link to rest of story http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_football_dolphins/2008/05/thing-i-think-i.html check out picture Yeremiah Bell ....
According to G.M. Jeff Ireland, the Dolphins would have LIKELY passed on Brohm, selecting another player if the Packers had selected Henne and not Brohm one pick ahead of the Dolphins. I knew that going into the draft http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/football/pro/dolphins/ i wonder what player the phins would have taken if henne was gone?
Henne was great value where we picked him, and I expect him to carry a clip board for at least one season. Ultimately I like Henne as the better of he and Flacco, just a gut feeling more than stats or real facts. Brohm was also good value where he was taken, but I prefer Henne over Brohm as well. Ryan may be the best of all of them, but not worth where he went in the draft, not to us anyway.
Given Channing's history of not knowing how to party responsibly (bar fight in College, drunk driving recently - yeah, do YOU believe his excuse???-) I don;t WANT to see pics of him hitting the town. You know when I loved Channing? That first season when he said all he wanted to do was get better, spend time learning from Zach, and go home to hang out with his dogs and watch DVDs. He specifically said he stayed in as much as he could to avoid the nightlife scene. What happened??? My guess is the King of Nightlife, Joey Prter, rolled into the LB corps and showed Channing "how we do". Great. Channing needs to get his arse back to concentrating on football and staying home and resting/avoiding potential trouble. Before everyone leaps to say Channing's a good boy and everyone deserve to go out for fun at the clubs, let me suggest that the same people may have to later use the excuse that he was "In the wrong place and the wrong time". Oh, so it's simultaneously OKAY to go to these places and live this lifestyle and AFTER you have problems because of it you can say it was a BAD IDEA to be in those places at those times??? Come on. How about an ounce of prevention? It's obviousl he hasn't leanred a damned thing from his almost drunk-driving charge. I think I might change my avatar. What was 'cute and funny' in his behaviour is starting to annoy me... ESPECIALLY since he is NOT developing on the field anymore. THAT'S where Channing's mind, energy and attention should be. Man, I miss Zach already. He was the consummate, dedicated professional. Bpk
Tw Things i got from that lame article.... Channing Crowder looks like his usual clueless self, just like he looks on the ffootball field. Yerimiah Was a Bullfrog Bell looks like a bad MOFO
Why is he classless? Hes taking a regular picture with Melyssa Ford who is one of the smartest up and coming business women in Hip Hop. Hes just smiling for a picture? I don't get it.
i am really hoping crowder puts things together this season. he has had an opportunity to learn from one of the absolute best in the business, one of the most prepared player to walk on the turf, in zach thomas. i have heard him asked specifically about preparation and his reply was something along the lines of oh, zach takes care of all that. i wish i could dig up a link. crowder can play but this season i think he really needs to step it up, he needs to prepare better, be stronger/faster, and play harder. he has the talent and i'm pulling for him,,, how's he doing with the parcell's conditioning program?
NP. I like and respect Dr. Z. He knows football. Can barely stand Peter King. But I run out of things to read at work, so I occasionally read his thread
