Turner got the job done with the Aggies. His O-line led the nation in fewest sacks allowed last season with eight and also paved the way for the 21st-ranked rushing attack in the nation. Back at Delaware, where he was also assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator, his team allowed only 13 sacks in 2005 and was among the Division I-AA leaders in several categories.
Marine capt..former college fullback..Leader of men...detail demanded mindset...and a lot of talent on our oline to work with..
Philbin, Sherman, Turner...I'm not an offensive guy, but this trio is not finesse...We are gonna have a tough, disciplined offensive line, which is exactly what we need to adapt to each individual team we play,to exploit their weaknesses..
This guy is no Bs..and we have the talent to become great..I hope our oline sits at their own table at the lunchroom, and doesn't talk to anybody until they do..

Well, I just realized why Jeff Ireland keeps making sure to mention Jim Turner every time he talks about getting input from the coaching staff about Ryan Tannehill.
HINT: Where was he just before he went to Texas A&M? -

So yeah, having gotten a close up look at both Joe Flacco and Ryan Tannehill, I would also love to sit Turner down and have an in-depth discussion on what he views to be the differences, both good and bad, between the two quarterbacks.CWBIII likes this. -
I like the hire:
1) a guy who's come up the hard way & paid his dues is not likely to blow a chance to make it in the NFL. he will be motivated to produce.
2) he obviously knows how to "coach up" an offensive line & 2012 is going to be all about coaching. coaching & competition are too often over-looked in our hero-centered NFL
3) Turner is a fit with Sherman, who is a fit with Philbin, everybody on the same page
4) he is a no nonsense, matter-of-fact guy in the trenches. he's coached both sides (offensive & defensive line) & knows that everything begins in the trenches. his military background & extensive experience will serve him well in shaping our offensive line
5) they continue to directly & indirectly build around Tannehill as the Franchise QB. I'm sure his confidence & comfort zone are increased by the addition of Jim Turner.dolfndav34 and djphinfan like this. -
I hope we have a great season but too many dolphin fans are putting the Texas a&m trio as the saviors and when you dont have the talent on offense that isnt going to equal playoffs . im tempted to drink the kool aide but i dont want to jinx us .

Really when you look back, going after Tannehill for Ireland was a perfect fit, he's the perfect blend of prototype size mixed with the athleticism that he apparently coveted. -
