Here's a quote from Reshad Jones following his recent extension (quoting James Walker's ESPN article): http://www.espn.com/blog/miami-dolp...offseason-moves-geared-towards-sustainability "The Dolphins held up their end despite Jones getting injured and playing just six games. Jones noted after the signing that Miami “kept their word."" Unlike some other moves I haven't heard anyone complain about the deal given to Jones; we know the sort of player he is. To hear a player, especially of that calibre, state that he feels the Dolphins organisation were good to their word, is significant. These are the sorts of thing that build culture and overall quality and that add to the idea here, that the Dolphins want sustainability. It's not just the right moves, but how you operate that contribute to sustained success. Obviously, the moves are important, but it's just good to hear and see this sort of thing. They can be indicators of good things.
Miami has identified core players that they feel will play at a certain level. Now Miami must build around those players
Hopefully, it can get done in the next month, and we don't end up stressing about it for the next year! If we end up picking up James' 5th year option, we could go into next offseason not needing to worry about anyone important leaving as a free agent, and the entire focus can be further building on what we've got going.
I can't imagine them doing what they are doing and not signing Landry. That would go against what seems to be the plan.
Well, Landry has to cooperate though. We don't have anything really solid, but local media members have said that Jarvis and his advisors are upset about the market for the WR position, and that they aren't likely to get the megacontract that they want. Hopefully, the team and they can come to an agreement that works for everyone and keeps #14 in aqua for a long time, but at the same time, Jarvis isn't worth top-5 WR money either.
I have not seen anything that says he wants to leave. I think he likes it here. Of course going to Giants with his buddy might be appealing, but he can't be upset with the Dolphins because contracts in NFL are not what they want.
I don't think that he wants to leave, but there are rumors that his agents are looking for more than they're going to get, and it may lead to him getting the tag next spring, instead of a long time deal.
I think he has a very high opinion of himself, which is what makes him, him, lol, which is a good thing on the field, but I think he's just wanting that that money badge, which says "I'm a top WR", I don't think it's pure greed. I think if Landry is firm on that number he will probably get a bit of a wake up call next year in FA, I doubt anyone will be willing to pay that price.
