Never saw this one but it validates some of the arguements on Ginn's behalf to the few people here who continue to refuse to see his talent. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35fxXOXBrA8&feature=related"]YouTube - Ted Ginn Jr. highlights vs bills[/ame] .....I know this was a rare game but notice on the very first play Ginn has to (and does) comeback for the ball on what should have been an 80 yard TD catch. It shows if Henne is as good as we think he may be watch out because you cant bring a S up with Ted Ginn on the field unless you want to get 6 put up on you.
We all know Ginn has talent, he just needs to put it together and have consistently good games rather than rare gems. This is the big year for him, I really hope he comes out and tears it up.
That first play still irks me, not the play itself, but every time I see it it reminds me that Ginn hasn't been used properly. Ginn has tremendous ability to leave the CB struggling to catch up to him, but we don't have a QB that can consistently get the ball in his hands and deep, so the Phins have been trying to find ways to get him involved. Ginn had his man beaten, Penny "aired it out" and Ginn had to come back for it. Sorry, it just irks me, I hate seeing talent go to waste or held back.
Ginn gets hit pretty good on like 3 of those catches, and guess what he pops right back up. That happened more than a few times all season as well. Oh wait, that can't be. He's soft and afraid of contact.
the most exaggerated BS about Ginn is that he's frail. He hasn't missed a single snap for us yet, it's actually kind of ridiculous.
hes a professional football player......everyone "takes shots" i agree hes not frail....but i hope he would get up......
not only do i like this thread, i like your mock draft. when pennington decides to throw to Ginn , Ginn makes it happen. did you notice the stat about Ginn having 177 yards on the season and he had 160 something just in that game in Buffalo? If Ginn gets the ball it has to be a quick throw before he runs out of pennington's range.
The thing about this game is that Miami made an effort to keep funneling the ball to him. One of the reasons that he didn't put up bigger numbers was because he thrown the ball as many times as other #1 wide receivers.
Ginn will not perform this well all the time obviously....I mean if he did he would shatter single season records. What is so amazing to me is how he has taken the two biggest knocks on him pre-draft and excelled at them. They said he couldnt run any route other than a Go route, in large part thanks to Penny he has been forced to be more of a "posession" guy. The other knock is that he was to small (skinny) to take hits in the NFL and would be oft-injured and yet he has not missed one single game. Teddy still has alot of work to do, and he is by no means doing everything right and Penny just is not getting him the ball, but he also is getting better with each game thus far and that is a nice thing to hang your hat on.
Ted Ginn was used as a decoy on an awful lot of plays last season. He really did help the TEs in particular by drawing the safeties away from the centre of the field. The Martin TD against SF is an excellent example of this.
agreed. but how long will him being a decoy work if NOT being a decoy isnt successful? to make myself more clear.....play action passes wont work all game if you arent also running the ball successfully. teddy just needs to be more consistent and we have ourself a hell've a good WR.... getting someone like nicks for boldin will help him drastically as well imo
I like what I've seen from Teddy so far, as he's clearly getting better and I'm more than willing to be patient with him. I just wish others could share that patience with me.
Great video. Seen it many times and absolutely love it. When I watch it, I think that Ginn may not necessarily become a top flight receiver like an Andre Johnson but good enough to be considered a top 20 or top 15 receiver in the league. I also can't help but think that our receiving corp isn't as maligned as some of these talking heads think it is. It lacks name recognition, yes, but last year they didn't really lack production except for early in the year. KC Joyner's article proves that point exactly. If we can add a bigger target in the draft I'm going to be real excited to see what our passing game could look like.
I think Ginn will be as good as a Roddy White here soon, trust me on this Roddy White isnt putting up the numbers he did last year with Joey Harrington instead of Matt Ryan. Andre Johnson is a freak!! Ill settle for Reggie Wayne-White type production. By the way....is there any doubt Ginn is a 1,000 yard WR if he was a Colt last year??? No.
I know Ginn is very capable of getting us a lot of recieving yards which i like a lot. I just want to see him get in the endzone a bit more. Then he will be a very good reciever.
My knock on him was he couldn't score in the red zone I just didn't think it would translate to his WHOLE game(it took Ginn 26 games before he scored a receiving td)...receiving,punt and kick off returns...maybe my expectations were to high
thank you someone else gets it. hes not soft or afraid of contact. he also got 2 posts in that video where the safety could of been there to kill him, but he got the ball and turned up field to run. he simply has had some bone headed plays that seemed hes soft. i have no problem with my WR, specially one like Ginn, who is on the outside and runs out of bounds rather then taking extra hits. it was just bone headed to do it before the first down, he simply wasnt aware of where the first down was. it wasnt that he was soft as can be...we'll see. i see a 1,000 yard season next year for Teddy.
I didn't like the Ginn pick but he's definitely improved. He needs more games like this one and needs to cut down on his fumbling problem. Reminds me of a couple of years ago just before Ronnie had his break out year. This might be the year for Ginn.
