I don't mind a movie about their lives. THAT would be okay. But to try and recreate the magic? Not a chance.
Sean Penn as Larry? Are you kidding me? He hasn't done anything even remotely funny since Spicoli.
Carrey as Curly is a travesty. There are plenty of other comedic actors who could fill that role better than he could.

It will never work because it took those three guys special magic together. Even the Larry, Moe, Shemp/Curly Joe episodes weren't as good with the ones with Curly. So if two of the original three couldn't do it how can these guys and Carrey in any movie scares me away.

A movie remake or a song remake is one thing, trying to put together a new version of a comedy team is quite another. These weren't just characters, it was the chemistry and the timing between them that made them what they were.
Just as there's only one "Abbott & Costello", there's only one "Three Stooges". -
I love remakes, but this one, IMO will be tough to pull off. The Three Stooges weren't a movie, or a TV series, they were three guys (4 with Shemp) that pulled off comedic magic when they were together.
