I don't even find this amusing. It is simply insulting a fellow who has been nothing but respectful of his faith and of everyone else around him.

Sick, fair enough! My anger at this kind of obnoxious, selective reading of sacred texts drives me up a wall and you got in the way of my anger. I am sorry, I should not have fired off at you about this when it was my concern with not just the article but the sense of even trying to put an article like this together.
Sacred texts get manipulated all the time. heck, they don't even have to be sacred, just open to interpretaion. How many folks looked back after 9/11 and found some way to read "Nostradamus" into the tragedy? This "article" is the worst kind of quasi-theological b******* and after many years they annoy me terribly.
Theolgins, pastors, indeed everyone have to deal with real problems in our lives, the lives of those around us, and indeed in the world we live. And then some quack comes in and badly proof-texts an entertainment/sports figure into an eternal battle of good and evil in order to what? help society? Hardly!
Tim Tebow, is an exciting QB with odd skills and even odder sports weaknesses who also happens to be a professing Christian.
I hope if I am ever thrust into the limelight, I peove to be as humble as he seems to come across and that I get left alone more than he has been.mullingan and dolphindebby like this. -
Most every prophesy can be interpreted to apply to a million situations. I could probably make an argument that my ex-wife is the antichrist if I were so inclined. Hey wait, now that I think about it...
Pandarilla and SICK like this. -

For example Scripture is misquoted in several of those "examples"
Matthew 24:15..wrong
Rev 6: 1-2 wrong
Daniel 11:37 badly misquoted, it says "and he shall exalt himself over all"
Daniel 13:16-18 the interpretation of the dream went on to say the statue represented the empires of the time
Rev 13:15 also quite wrong
And so on and so on, I don't mind the attempt at humor, but at least it should be accurate.
Besides, the "human number' does not equal 666, Tebow wears #15...:shifty: -
That is close enough
Plus it does show how people can use the ignorance of the Bible to say almost anything, like the whole idea of the antichrist to begin with. -
-
660 + 6 =?

The 666 deal is a jewish number for name system (not sure if it is the Gimattra or not), Caesar Neron or Emperor of Bloodletting, some theologians feel it is a reference to Nero for his persecutions. -
^Ahh the Book of Revelations, Prophecy for the end times? Delusions of a drug addled mad man? Or elaborate warning about Nero and Rome as a whole?
I like Deadspin's theories better BTW.
But perhaps the most intresting scenario:
-
...anything on Urban Meyer? -
What does "professional theologian" even mean?
