I had to laugh a bit after I read that title, and to amuse myself, read the article to see how they justify the claim. Sparano, the inventor of the wildcat? Don't get me wrong, I liked the guy (hes a Jet now) but in no way shape or form did he invent the damned thing. This is pure Jets homerism at its best - from the NFL.com no less. Their writing has been going downhill lately. Full article here; http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...ffense-this-season?module=HP11_content_stream
People just don't get it.....first of all, Tebow doesn't run the wildcat. Second of all, Sparano didn't invent the wildcat. Third of all the wildcat is a stupid name to call the type of offense and it should have stayed in college
Well I'll be. The lil fist pumper pumps 48 into the Jills. 48 divided by 3...thats like a gajillion field goals!!!
I didn't see any sideline video of him fist pumping. 2 FG's, 2 punts and no visable fist pumps. Extremely disappointed. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Him and Ryan Fitzpatrick are going to Vegas with all that wasted money. I truly feel bad for the Bills fans at this point.
In Pittsburgh? I'm guessing not much. They are pretty unbeatable on their home field and coming off a loss to open the season, it would take a minor miracle to beat them. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Whats funny is now people are saying it was just the Bills, but everyone wrote off the Jets in this game.
I'm shocked that the Jets handled the Bills DL as well as they did. Sanchez had little.to no pressure the entire game. I was also suprised that Hill played as well as he did. I was not that impressed with what I saw in the preseason. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Jets "explosive" offensives had nothing to do with Tebow. It had to do with Sanchez playing well football. No wild cat. Yeah the Jets played well against the Bills, but can they keep it up against good Defense? And if Tebow had no effect on the Bills, what kind of effect will it have on better teams?
I'm pretty sure the strength of the Bills is their defense. It's not like they were playing a weak defensive team. Tebow was used strictly to keep the defense thinking about him. It was as vanilla as you could get. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Then logically the truth must lie somewhere in between. The Bills may not be that good, the Jets may not be that bad. But neither will look as bad or as dominant as the year wears on.
I definitely think Buffalo will play much better than that. Fitzpatrick was awful. He'll be benched if he has a few more of those games. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
Not quite sure where I posted that they were. They do have a very good DL. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
So when can we give the Jets credit for actually playing pretty good football, which they did on Sunday?
Thought it wa s a good move for them to get Sparano and Tebow, liked the fit..Hated the move because I think Tebow and the formation can coexist with a traditional one.
I don't know about a lot. On paper the Bills have talent on defense. The Jets still put up 38 points on offense. Maybe I'm overrating the Bills defense but that was all NY, IMO.
Here are where their drives started: NY 19 NY 39 (after INT) NY 48 (after INT) NY 20 NY 47 (after fumble recovery) BUF 48 NY 20 NY 20 BUF 49 (recover onsides kick)
Thanks, BicketyBam. I think its fair to say it was a combined effort in the Jets success. That doesn't take anything away from them, however.
Buffalo did not play well. Zero pressure on Sanchez. If you didn't know Mario Williams was on the team, you still wouldn't have after the game. I think he got credit for one tackle. Fitzpatrick made some poor throws. All three INT's resulted in 7 points. When you give a team a relatively short field and then get no pressure on the QB, you are in trouble. I will say this. Spiller looked very good. The Jets always have problems with quick backs and Spiller made them pay. Not looking forward to Bush.
I watched the tape from last year and they did a great job of playing picket fence defense and forcing Spiller wide. Haven't reviewed this weeks game yet though.
Sanchez was 4/5 60 yards 2 TDs on plays immediately after the plays Tebow was inserted . Sparano mentioned that the time with Sanchez on the sideline was like extra timeouts...do not be too sure it did not work just yet .
