I think it's finally time for all of us on here to stop fighting and enjoy what's going with this team!
I don't recall in the last 30 years people saying we are the best team in the AFC and I am hearing it everywhere.
We need to enjoy this now because it might disappear will quick with the salary that will come knocking soon.

I remember starting a thread last year opining that they're a lock for 10 wins with all the hype from the 5-game win streak.

This falls a part the minute, heaven forbid, Tua gets hurt again.

So yeah this is fund, and it looks like the Fins could easily be 5-1 or 6-0 by mid October.

I need to see Miami win a Super Bowl before I die. This is our 2-3 year window to win it all right now. All I know is whatever is happening right now is something I've never felt before. It just feels like it's our turn.

It's way too early in the season for me to get overly hyped but I am glad for what I'm seeing. I watched both games last night and neither the QB play nor coaching seemed to be anywhere close to what we're enjoying. McDaniel is 100% correct when he reminds the team that nobody goes to the playoffs with two wins and that expectations will only be met with constant improvement. In the words of Urban Meyer: The best thing about being 2-0 is you have the chance to go 3-0.

    Phins up!

    Tua Tagovailoa
Current contract situation: Under contract through the 2024 season

There might not be a bigger contract situation to monitor in the NFL -- literally. After Joe Burrow reset the market on Day 1 of the 2023 season, Tagovailoa could do the same next spring. He will play on the fifth year of his rookie contract in 2024, but he's a betting favorite for NFL MVP through the first two weeks of this season, according to Caesars Sportsbook. If he keeps this up, expect the Dolphins to shell out more money than they've ever given a player in team history. -- Marcel Louis-Jacques

I think you implying Tua isn’t just an “average or slightly above average QB” by your salary cap comment is what will prevent some posters from fully agreeing with you.

    Good post though.

Really? Weren’t you implying by saying “the salary that will come knocking soon” that Tua might get a record contract, or at least a massive one? Hill already has his. So who else could force us to prioritize due to salary constraints? Point is, teams generally won’t give out the kind of contract Tua is likely to get if he’s merely an “average” QB as some posters claim.

So maybe you weren’t thinking that far, but your post does imply Tua is a key component of one of the best offenses in the NFL, and that you can’t just replace him with a cheap average QB so you don’t need to worry about “the salary that will come knocking soon”. That’s the implication that will prevent some posters from fully agreeing with your original post.

White had a higher passer rating with only 2 passes!!! Tua had so many more chances and couldn't match White's rating. And this is who we are supposed to support as our QB??

.. oops forgot, there's already a hilarious thread for this:

Sadly you know the answer is no. You also know some are just waiting for the Buffalo game to diss on Tua. Buffalo is no joke of course so this will be a great test. But Tua is some larger sample size away from proving he's an elite QB, no qualifiers.

That 2020 draft may go down as one of the greatest QB drafts in history.

Can't blame anybody for hedging on their enthusiasm until after the Buffalo game. Win that one and the future looks bright, lose and yesterday's 70 points is just a distant memory. Realistically, so far we've beaten three teams with losing records, none of which made the playoffs last season. Until we actually beat the teams that are considered SB contenders I'll hold off on making any Las Vegas reservations. Fins Up.

It's not about enthusiasm. It's about the continued insistence that Tua is at most an average or slightly above average QB and that what you already saw was not due to him but to everyone else. One can definitely attack that stance pre-Buffalo.

Chargers made the playoffs and New England was only 1 game out of it. Broncos had only lost by a combined 3 points in their first 2 games but now they are suddenly the worse team in the NFL.

I'm still waiting for people to notice that his quick release and quicker decision making is what's making this offense roll. It's 100% true that he's succeeding with a high-level supporting cast. But it's also very true that most QBs can't make his reads as quickly or deliver the ball downfield to speedsters who are as likely as not to outrun the pass.

Yeah, he blossomed when he got talent around him. But the offense isn't succeeding with him, it's succeeding because of him.

Not that I agree, but I can understand some of the skepticism. Personally, I don’t think our first 3 opponents were all that, despite what all of the sports pundits were touting. But be that as it may…

Even if we do defeat Buffalo next week, there’s still going to be the, “yea, but”s…

Do I think Buffalo is our first TRUE test of the season? Yea, actually I do, but regardless of the outcome of that game, it doesn’t diminish in my mind this team and what’s been accomplished so far this season. I truly believe in this season, I really do.

What’s going to be annoying are the “trolls”, who have been conspicuously absent since Sunday’s game coming back once we lose our first game, be it Buffalo or the Giants and spewing the same nonsense they have been about Tua and this team in general.

As I said previously, would it be great if we won every game this season? Yes, but do I think THATS going to happen? No.

Anyone can beat anyone on any given Sunday.

Well, if your main complaint about him is that he is injury prone... then we need to see how the season plays out. There should be little doubt about his talent level at QB.

who has made that comment this year? Certainly those comments had merit the first couple years, but last year he really started to work and improve (thanks to a coach that believes in him)

StaleTacos repeatedly said that after game 1, that he's not changing his original opinion until he has "large enough" sample size (i.e., another season), which history suggests is just another goalpost to be moved. Resnor also has been given a lot of opportunities to move away from that position and has never done so (after game 1).

btw.. the deafening silence you see from almost everyone who claimed Tua is average-ish and his great stats last year were primarily due to others is implicit evidence of this. Do you really think hitman8 has changed his mind for example? That guy is as consistent as they come in claiming Tua isn't elite because he doesn't have a strong arm and he's only succeeding because of open receivers etc.

Pretty lame for someone like hitman to be so dedicated to negativity that he has to avoid talking about Dolphins because they just played the best game they ever had.

We know why staletacos isn't here. Dolphins riding high and his Jets are at the lowest of the low. He needs some space.

It is interesting how open our guys are. I watch other games and it seems we have guys running open all over the place, but other teams not so much. Coach has done a great job scheming people open.

It's a sign of immaturity to be proven wrong and to continue to hold on to your position.

I wanted Tua gone. Heck, after the first NE game last year I wanted him gone. I was all in on Watson.

I was wrong. Flat out wrong. I've never been more wrong about a player in my 40+ years of watching football. I'm glad I was wrong. I cheer for the Miami Dolphins and my dream for the last 20 years was to sport a respectable offense much like the Dolphins had during my formative years.

Back up the Brinks truck for Tua. I love the kid and hope he finishes his career in Miami, finishing what Marino couldn't and brining the Lombardi home. Tua is someone easy to root for and if he brings it home he can stand next to our HOF legend, hand him a ring and cement himself in the Ring of Honor alongside Marino.

This is the outcome I want and this is an outcome that is possible for the first time this century.

    Haha..

You probably don't remember but back during the final year of the Wanny experience, right before Ricky was suspended i predicted the Dolphins would finish 5-11 or 4-12 because i saw the way he was running the team in to the ground. You called me a Jets fan and I blocked you on FH.... :D
