Well, I was wrong then..... pretty bold call on your part after 11-5, 11-5, 9-7 (injuries), and 10-6 seasons...

*Yes. I'm aware that stats don't tell the whole story and some may be considered to be "cherry picked". It doesn't not stifle my enthusiasm for what I'm watching. Don't attack me for sharing positive information while things are going well for us. If I see negative but relevant information, I'll bring it here in the interests of objectivity.

Props to Grier for sticking to his guns. If Flores had his way Tua would have packed his bags and left for Houston along with a king's ransom of picks for Watson.

The Y-axis is PFF's grade. I'm not a subscriber but I guess EPA is not part of their metrics(?).

    EDIT: I guess they are.

    Speaking of which:
This analysis utilizes a statistical technique called Bayesian Updating. It is a method PFF has used many times, notably when we looked at the 2018 and 2019 draft classes. With Bayesian Updating, we can use individual results to project PFF grades and expected points added (EPA) per play.

Flo's only allegiance was to himself. I'll never understand how he inspired such strong loyalty from his defensive players. Those dudes LOVED him and he'd cut or sit them if they had one bad game. Literally, BTW. Why would I run through a wall for somebody who sees me in such a transactional way? Total opposite of McDaniel.

And even if he was a defensive genius there is nothing more important than developing your young QB and is there anyone that did a worse job than Brian Flores? I think even the most anti Tua people should have seen more fault in Flores and not put it all on Grier.

This is the post I want to use to reply to the whole injury concern.

Should folks be concerned about Tua getting injured? Maybe, but shouldn’t the fans of every other team in the league be equally concerned about their franchise quarterback getting injured as well? Absolutely!!!!

What are the Chiefs if Mahomes goes down?
What are the Bills if Allen goes down?

    Burrow, Purdy, Jackson, etc…

Instead of those touting that Tua is weak and injury prone, you would think all that energy would be directed towards the offensive line. “You better not let him get hurt!”

And so far this season, the OL has done a phenomenal job in protecting him. In 3 games, Tua has been sacked only once and knocked down only 5 times in 101 dropbacks.

Tua was getting his dick knocked in the first last season…and the season before. I don’t think the issue of injuries needs to be a concern.

Thing is, if one of those guys gets hurt the way they've been hurt in the past, they could still come back and have a long career. If Tua gets another concussion, he's probably out of the NFL.

While you are technically correct, Tua does have an injury history dating back to college. Also, the concussion vs GB happened on a fall that just did not seem like it should have been an issue.

I agree that the focus should be on the OL and protection. And, as they say in the investment biz.... past performance is no guarantee of future success or in this case, future injury.

ST must feel pretty foolish right about now.
His Jets are horrible and misery loves company but the Dolphins/Tua are rolling so he's obviously in a bad way at the moment.
Add that to the fact that Jets fans were already punching their super bowl tickets after the Rodgers signing and that magnifies their misery.

The one stat that sticks with me is that Tua's physicians said that he has no greater chance of a concussion than any other QB in the league.

That does not mean he can't get a concussion...or twist an ankle for that matter. But he's bulked up and did everything possible to avoid being injured this season. There's just no reason to sit back and wait on an injury.

It was actually Two Tacos, not StaleTacos. You're not buying it because you're smarter and for no good reason, I believe people are ultimately reasonable. Sadly, that's one of my big flaws. You and I both know ST is watching the game this weekend praying for us to lose thanks to something that Tua does.

Looking at this graph, it came to mind we left 10 points off the board against the Chargers and that 7 of Denver's 20 points came on special teams.

Last season Tyreek was ranked 13th and Waddle was ranked 20th out the the top 25 most open receivers. Tua's stats are nearly identical to last years (I can't find the "open receivers" stat for 2023 yet). The entire "Tua's WR's are always open" mantra is bullsh!t.

There's a graph earlier in this thread that shows where Tua's stats have actually been better with Cheetah off the field than with him on it. I'm sure there's some relevant context that I'm not grasping where that makes sense but contrast it with how literally every receiver's performance dropped last year when #1 was off the field. He's making Hill and Waddle and the rest of the WR room better.

Have you watched any game film? They are legit open all over the place. Chosen and 0 were open most of the plays. Does not take away from what Tua is doing, just keeping it real.

I watch all of the All 22 films. And what you're saying here is just not true. Objectively so.

I found this season's separation rankings.

Receiving Stats | NFL Next Gen Stats

On average, Tyreek gets 3.1 yards of separation per target. Waddle gets 3. Berrios gets 2.4 yards and Chosen had one catch I believe.

Curtis Samual: 4.9 (leads the league)
    Rondale Moore: 4.8
    Mike Gesicki: 4.7
    Dawson Knox: 4.2
    Keenan Allan: 3.9
    Ceedee Lamb: 3.6
    Deebo Samual: 3.5
    Rashee Rice: 3.5
    Ja'Marr Chase: 3.4
    Nelson Agholor: 3.3
    Skyy Moore: 3.3
    Demario Douglas: 3.3
    Jerry Juedy: 3.2
    Paka Nacua: 3.2

If you look at the average "cushion" Tyreek is even further down the list.

And there are MANY others I didn't list. Why aren't the QB's of those receivers having the success that Tua is having?

There are also people who believe that all Tua does is throw 2 yard passes and gets 50 YAC yards every play.

Constantly debunking this garbage is getting tiresome.
