DisgustipatesubscriberOPRyan Tannehill had an awful game, and the offense wasn't going anywhere. I don't know if you can couch in him being a rookie, since it was markedly worse than pretty much anything this season. It's not so much I don't think the interceptions as it was just an overall lack of performance. The third one was as bad a decision as he's made as a Dolphin, but he got pretty well ****ed over on what should have been a PI call on the Fasano, and the first was a tipped pass.
I think it's a good sign that Philbin is holding Reggie Bush accountable for his decision making. He's turned back into New Orleans Reggie Bush. I think at this point the Dolphins really need to make sure they know what they have in Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller, because they've got to make some choices at runningback.
Daniel Thomas doesn't look like a real winner as a draft pick, but I think there's a good chance he sticks around a while as a 3rd down back. He blocks and catches pretty well.
The wide receivers were pretty much what you expect of them week in and week out. I do think it's a bit noteworthy that Davone Bess is getting quite good at making up for his size by going up for the ball and being able to catch outside of his frame so well. Jabar Gaffney was on the field a lot, but it still seems like he's really not at all up to speed.
Offensive line had a better game, and I think a pretty solid one in pass protection. If the Titans have anything to recommend themselves defensively, it's their pass rush. Jake Long had a pretty good game against a quality pass rusher, and Jonathan Martin didn't really get anyone killed. Tannehill took a big hit on one play, but it was really strange in that Tannehill looks at the defenders showing blitz, seems to hesitate on making an adjustment call, doesn't, then gets killed on the play.
I think the fundamental theme of Richie Incognito's career is that he's not a good enough football player to get away with being as big of an ******* as he is. He's not bad, but he's pretty average for the amount of attention he draws to himself and a lot of time his dirty play isn't helping the team out.
I think it in a way it's good the Defense had their streak rubbed in their face, because it doesn't seem like the intensity and focus has been there for a couple weeks now. The big plays came on cutbacks that were somewhat ill-disciplined, but the front-side defense really wasn't all that good either. I think they've been coasting for a bit.
I'm kind of curious about Koa Misi seemingly being rotated with Jason Trusnik. Misi had a very hot start to the season and has cooled down, and Trusnik has been pretty good rotating in.
I think it's hard to be too critical of the pass defense when an opposing quarterback completes 9 passes for 122 yards. A fair amount of that was on clearly lapsed plays, but overall the job was properly done.

What about the litany of penalties that kept stalling offensive plays? How about the complete lack of push on rush blocking?
Sorry, this O-Line has too many high picks to be playing as poorly as it is. And mind you, this is not a one time thing. They have been playing awful since the start of the season.

I was at the game today (lucky me). I went with a buddy of mine that is a Titans fan so you could tell he was happy.
My quick thoughts:
- Wind was kicking up a lot. Don't know if that influenced anything.
-Those blocking in the back fouls during kickoffs/returns were so blatant and dumb. Shot themselves in the foot before they even started the drive.
- I saw Reggie Bush for the first time as overrated. My opinion, do not re-sign him. He spent (what seemed to me ) a lot of time on the sideline.
- Agree with 'Pate about Incognito. Took the momentum out of Thomas' run with that penalty. Did you notice he was taken out after that dumb 15 yard penalty and was kept on the sidelines for a few plays? Garner went in for him. They had to rush Big Jake in to block on the right side for the field goal to then spend a time out to take Jake back out and put Incognitio back in.
-Seems we reverted back to the Sparano days of calling timeouts very quickly.
-Disagree with 'Pate somewhat about Fields. He looked to shank some punts today. Might have been the wind.
-All in all, love reading the post game recap, brother. Keep up the good work.

I don't really know anything about special teams, but I was under the impression with the wind like that you can't really blast straight into it, you've got to angle it and as a result it would reduce distance.

You get the same production out of Thomas and/or Miller. And you could get the same production out of a FA RB for < 1 million per season.

At this point you sign Bush for whatever the value is of a player who has the role of catching passes in space, which is what he was limited to on the Saints.

The Titans came back after a shocking performance against the Bears and the Fins better do the same next game!

The only problem with that is they've got a Thursday night game on the road - they've got no time to stew, no time to form an effective gameplan, and they're going into hostile territory. Home teams winning on Thursday night is as close to a sure thing as it gets in the NFL (so long as you're not the Jags), and while the Bills D is terribad, the Dolphins O is just as inept..

branNew Memberthe team was heartless, it seems they were their to collect a check and nothing more. it is one thing to go out and give it your best against a team that is superior in talent and lose. then it is to go against a team whose starting qb hasnt played in 5 weeks, goes a sanchez like 9/21 and lose by 5 touchdwons. the team was gutless, im sorry to say it and i hate to say it, this felt like 2010 when the dolphins laid down for the patriots backups

i understand tannehill did not play great, but i dont think he was horrible either, the pick six was a tip, and the second pick should have been PI or holding or illegal contact, if that was gronkowski or hernandez getting mugged their would have been 10 flags on that play.
the third pick was all on tannehill no defending that one.

Trust me Reggie will want more than $ 4 to 5 million a year. I think he's gonna want $ 6 million per year for 5 years. I would sign him for 2 at $ 10 at the most.

And, I'm not so sure that Daniel Thomas hasn't done just as well at catching passes out of the backfield this season as Reggie Bush

They need someone to go into that Dolphin facility and tear these guys a new one. Put a damn fire up their butts. If they just go through the motions in Buffalo like they did today, they are screwed!

It was only last week he had that dazzling run for a TD.
Thomas has to be the 0.5 yard line to run it in ;)

Understood, brother but why was he on the sideline for most of the time after the fumble? Incognito when in after a series for his penalty. Couldn't have been just to teach him a lesson for his fumble.

There are a whole lot of holes Bush has missed. His vision has been awful for a while now. Last week they ran him almost entirely off of man blocking plays to try and make it easier and be didn't get it done. He deserved to be benched.

OnehondosubscriberI am no longer even considering the playoffs this year. All I am looking for the rest of this year is improvement. Not occasional improvement, but steady, obvious improvement. Today's big loss against the Titans is a big step backward in my opinion. This was a home game for our Dolphins and there was absolutely no home field advantage and should be an embarrassment for the players, coaches and the owner. If things don't start getting much better after this Ross is going to have to take a hard look at this team at the end of the year. I don't have any answers, but there's got to be some answers somewhere.

I usually never complain about this kind of thing but the crowd was embarrassing today. We are fighting for a playoff spot with a promising young QB and that's the kind of crowd we get? Not to mention it seemed like a beautiful day as well.
