who think he is a diva and all that other nonsense....

As I said before when he was signed, he is the farthest thing from a "diva". Guy is a showboat and talks smack...that isn't a diva. The guy is class all the way.

What if he had dreads?

There's really no reason for people to believe Johnson isn't a good guy. He's one of the better human beings in the NFL, he's just really goofy. For some reason there is a segment of the populace who had never been able to properly cope with the idea football players no longer look and act like Johnny Unitas.

Chad has always done stuff like this, in terms of being one of the more accessible players around. Is he over the top? Absolutely, but you don't hear about him imploding locker rooms or being devisive. Yes, what he does on the field matters a great deal, as that is what he's here for, but don't underesitmate the good PR he will bring with him by doing things like this.
-
You always hear the term "high character guys" when evaluations are going on with players. It applies here as well.

Chads a little eccentric but imo was definitely a good addition. Imo people who think he is devisive, mean spirited or a bad guy havent really paid much attention to his career. I thought he'd have a rebound year before he signed with Miami...

Chad is a diva and a distraction, that being said its not a crime and doesnt make him a bad person, just an annoying person and bad teammate. People dont care about all the self promotion, just play good ball.
-
I thought you were ignoring me. My heart is slightly broken knowing you still care.

Good story. I've always enjoyed Chad's antics and personality, look forward to him busting out a few celebrations in the endzone this year for us.

So he's a really nice guy and isn't a diva. But can he still play?
-
the fact that people admire johnson's charity or whatever, in no way means they've lost sight of the fact that he needs to play well for the football team to be successful.

You said it yourself, he is a showboat and talks smack. That is a diva.
The difference between Johnson and other divas like Randy Moss and T.O. is that he isn't a locker room distraction. -

I like the guy and hope he has a great career with the Fins. If he can pick up where he left off a couple years ago he will be a good WR and teammate. He is a different person all together. Some people just do their own thing and really don't care what everyone around them thinks. IMO he has never been a locker room problem or team distraction. Yes, he does some crazy, outlandish stuff but all in good fun. I would like to see a couple strong years as a Fins WR and then retirement in the Aqua and Orange. He is just naturally a South Florida kinda guy

If he pulls an Irving Fryar this year I'm gonna party.

In my view a diva is a player who is a narcissist or someone who only cares about what they want without regard to others. So if C'O'J starts running lazy routes, wrong routes is not playing with his head in the game or not being a team player then he'll get rightfully critisized. I don't know much about him, I admit but all the showboating draws attention to himself because he's an entertainer. It doesn't harm anyone. For Coyle to endorse him means to me that he's not a bad guy. He's in Miami for cheap anyway but I think he'll at least do alright without many issues.

This is still one of my favorite interviews ever in the NFL. Up there with Bart Scott's "Can't Wait!"

Personally I will be very surprised if he is a member of the Dolphins once the final roster is set.Larryfinfan likes this.
