Tom Brady has nearly reached 1/5th of Marino's single season record in 2 games

I know I can't be the only one who is thinking who gives a damn about Marino's records. Marino is not helping the Dolphins win a game and frankly, I don't really care about the past.

Yeah, but still. If the Dolphins finish in last place AND Marino's record falls to a division rival? That's getting punched in the face...twice.

I respect Brady and all but its a whole new NFL these days, Marino's records in that era was like when Babe Ruth was hitting 50 HRs and the next guy had 21...

These days the rules have changed to favor the passing game. That record is bound to die in this era, hell Cam Newton will prolly throw for 4500 yards if that tells you anything.

^ This. The fact that Marino's single season yardage record lasted this long is astonishing. I think Drew Brees missed it a few years back on a dropped pass. There was a great article on ESPN about it in 2007 also about Tom Brady:

It's a still standing NFL record and something that many fans of this franchise are proud of. You don't care about the past, wonderful. You're barely old enough to have a past. The 1984 season is not merely 'statistics'. It was Marino completely redefining what the passing game could be in the NFL.

It doesn't mean I don't have respect for it. Many fans here on this board have said the same in the past.

Considering rules in todays game favors the offense. If Marino was playing in todays NFL he would shatter his own records. Brady is great might even go down as the NFL greatest QB.

That D wasn't good enough when they just came up short in the SB either...but when you build big leads you can mask defensive deficiencies. Pile on points, make the opponent 1 dimensional...

If they pile on those points no one will stop them. Great QB with a great coach. Hopefully they lose 1 game very soon.
