Yea he's showing us how valuable he is with his 7 game snaps and 1 catch. How about we see Sapp play for us before whining about the trade more.
that 3rd and 11 was more Favre's fault than Cammy's. Cammy was open that needs to be placed a little better.
Now take not, the Saints are putting the Williams Wall on roller skates this evening with Nicks and Evans, Nicks was a 5th rd pick, Evans a 4th rd pick. Let's see next week what Jerry and Incognito can do with those two. Good for Greg C, though it did hit him in the hands.
Wow just goes to show how vital it is to have a TRUE number one Receiver. If Rice was healthy Vikes win
Low scoring, sloppy opening week game.....2 big missed FG....would have made it seem like a blow-out, low scoring but a blow out.... missed Xtra point....sloppy
New Orleans didn't score much tonight but you've gotta love Sean Payton. I enjoy watching him call the offensive plays. He doesn't do anything crazy but he does the little things; fake screen left, throw right to the screen or he'll fake screens both ways and throw to the Y, who did a check-release. Further, how good is that offensive line unit for the Saints? Carl Nicks was blowing people up, Bushrod did well, and the rest of the OL held their own against a solid front, I felt. Heath Evans did a solid job lead blocking too. Sean Payton may be the Chris Peterson of the NFL, sans the trickery.
Nah Berrian has unreliable hands chemistry wouldn't matter with him. They missed Rice tonight. The Saints look solid all-around they wont be playing a defense like that every time.
I don't see why not. I thought they did a good job in man coverage tonight and Greg Williams didn't do anything spectacular, which is rather unusual of him because he usually dials up quality blitzes. I also want to say that I thought Malcolm Jenkins played well. He did well in their Cover 1 and Cover 3 looks.
They said Berrian had like the best catch % (or something to that affect) of everyone who saw 50 passes (or maybe receptions).
Well... Vikes just got harder to beat next week, imo. They'll be looking to rebound from the loss, avoid 0-2, and playing their home opener. Damn, if we beat them it'd be a great sign. Let's make sure we beat Buffalo first!
If McKinnie is out next week, I like Cameron Wake's chances against Phil Loadholt. Phil is slow getting off the line and has always been top heavy. I think Wake could do a very good job against him.
Evans and Nicks turned the Williams Wall into a speed bump, they looked like they both were on roller skates. Imho I also think this game showed how simple it is to take away a Te, Shinacoe looked good early, NOLA started doubling him and the Vikes had no answers. Thought Abdullah looked exploitable as well, though the Vikes Cb's do a good job of tackling imho. And it appeared to me that Favre's ankle was giving him trouble early in the game, he looked better in the 2nd half, but in the first half he looked like he favored it at times.
Favre literally had no weapon outside of Visante which busted the seam nicely. Rice can get behind the Saints I believe he got behind them a few times in the NFC Champ game. Plus Rice is great on the slant which Favre loves to throw. Jenkins played really well seems like FS is his natural position. Berrian might get that accolade because he plays like 8 games a year and gets targeted a few times. Yes the injury thing is an exaggeration but Berrian is AWFUL bad pick up by the Vikes IMO. He always drops on very crucial plays most coming from 3rd down. He had a drop on 3rd earlier in the game. I'd rather have Ginn than Berrian.
I don't recall them doubling Shiancoe. I recall them getting away from zone and putting Roman Harper, who is a solid cover guy, on him and taking him away like that. Abdullah reads the game well IMO. He's not that fast but he understands the game and is in the right place. The cornerbacks in Minnesota are frequently going to be able to stick their head in the run game because they are asked of it quite often.
I think you may need to double check his recent performances. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BerrBe00.htm He may not be special, but he's not even close to awful.
I don't think Rice makes that big of a difference in this game. Favre was under pressure quite a bit tonight and took some hits. New Orleans also played pretty well in the secondary, I thought. They did have issues in the seam but that's why they went from MOFO to MOFC coverage and basically took it that away.
Well, another thing to keep in mind is: The Vikings will have 10 days to game plan for the Dolphins so what we watched tonight will have little resemblance to what we will see in Wk #2. As if the schedule wasn't difficult enough already. I do think Sidney Rice's absence really hurts their offense, but their defense played poorly imho, and expect that to be tightened up in wk #2.
Have to wonder about this whole passing league thoughts across the country. Bill Walsh once said you do not have to run to set up the pass, you can pass to set up the run and he was right. Every year, every team, I see Bill Walsh's West Coast offense being sprinkled in on teams and teams are using spacing concepts on three to five step drops (Just like the Saints do every Sunday) and then use that to set up the run. Quick, timing passes and aggressiveness simultaneously. Tonight, it was no different. The Saints first twenty plays, I believe eighteen were pass, two were run. Aggressive, down the field throws and quick passes being used as well. Pivot routes IIRC, out routes, square ins, posts, etc. were all used. Then they started running the ball and closing out the game. For all the talk in this league that its becoming a passing league, it still may be a run league, just not out the gates.
