I’ve said it time and time again…Dan Marino was the GREATEST quarterback of all time.
Fishhead, resnor, Phil Hutchings and 2 others like this. -

When you account for the era he played in versus today's QBs he's the greatest passer to ever play the game. The fact that this isn't accounted for when the talking heads talk QBs is criminal. Post 2005, everything changed and passing in the NFL became exponentially easier. If Marino played in today's NFL he'd throw for 60TDs in a season.

Well, he had 564 attempts- how many games was the NFL season then- 16? If so, that's 35 attempts per game. Last year, the average was 34.4 so he wouldn't necessarily throw it more, but you'd think he'd complete more anyway. Tough to say since his release was so lightning fast. I don't know if that translates to more TDs today or not.

Had they won a Super Bowl (or 2or3) during his time, he’d be in every conversation about the GOAT. Instead, he gets lumped in with guys who couldn’t carry his jock.
I will always believe that if Miami had drafted Terrell Davis, the Dolphins would have won the championships that Denver won, and Marino would have been the one to retire on top, not the overrated Elway.MonstBlitz and dolphin25 like this. -
With the hands off rules that are in place today, had they been in place during Marino’s day…with Clayton, Duper and Moore, virtually every pass thrown by Marino could have been a touchdown.
Slight exaggeration perhaps, but let’s truly be real; How open would those 3 great receivers have been…and with Clayton’s speed?? Forget about it! -
