My thoughts- don't touch veteran receivers. Too many solid ones in the draft this season to choose from.

 

Out of those, I think Ju-Ju would be most suited to Tua and our game plan under Gailey. I'd be more than happy if we signed either him or Godwin.

 

Schuster is a "look at me" guy. Don't need that in Miami.

 

If you had asked me for much of the season what we would do with the Texans' pick, I woulda said WR.

That being said, a lot can change in a little period of time. If things fall the way they should on Sunday (knock on wood), we could be in prime position to get Sewell with a fallback guy of Parsons. I think Sewell may be the gift of all gifts because he is exactly what we need - talk about a fortress line!

Now, if the good Sunday continues, we are gonna be making the playoffs and picking late in the first round. I would not at all consider it a lock that Waddle, Smith, or Chase will still be on the board when we pick.

So, in my mind, if the Bears let Robinson walk, we target him, and probably overpay for him. The guy has been an elite WR and has NEVER played with a good QB. The guy doesn't miss games. The consolation prize would be Godwin. I am not sure he leaves TB, but obviously, if he were to become available, he would be a target too.

That being said, if we can land one of these two guys, I would say essentially that would be it for our participation in free agency (sure, I would not be opposed to a few smaller signings). My thoughts are this. Aside from WR and RB, I do not look at this roster as having and glaring weaknesses, and we have tons of draft picks. Adding Robinson would immediately make our WR group solid. There would still be a possibility that we could land a big 3 WR, and then we would likely have a top tier position group.

What this plan essentially does is it guarantees that with our first round pick, at minimum, one of the following players would be available - Waddle, Smith, Chase, Harris, Etienne. It is also not out of the realm of possibility that one of those RBs is available with the Texans' pick in the second round. This plan has a lot of "have your cake and eat it too."

 

Not sure how much they'll be asking for but i'd take a gamble on these only. Still target a Rookie WR in the 2nd/3rd round

4) Kenny Golladay, Detroit Lions
11) Marvin Jones Jr., Detroit Lions

 

This list is missing Curtis Samuel, IMO, the best affordable option.

The top guys (Robinson, Godwin, Smith-Schuster, Golladay) are going to command upwards of 19m/yr. Samuel will be closer to 10m--maybe under--and he's the youngest of the bunch (24).

He gives this offense some sorely needed speed, assuming Jakeem Grant is released (likely). Samuel is also an incredibly polished route runner for his age, and he has good ability to gain separation. Pair him with someone like Rondale Moore (a YAC monster), and our WR room has all of the necessary pieces to succeed.

I'd like to see this FO invest the big contract into Aaron Jones.
