If Justin Blackmon and Josh Gordon are both available in trade, which do you choose? I think I would go with Blackmon. I think he fits this program better as far as his skill set is concerned. And I think his issues, the reason he's got a one year suspension hanging over his head, are a little bit more mainstream and able to be dealt with. It's alcohol. You have to say, at least it's not illegal. Because of it's not being illegal I think it's easier to keep him from getting himself into trouble. The talent with Gordon I think is more demonstrable, but I keep getting thrown off by things I hear from the people closer to him.
I really want to give Matthews his shot, but it would be hard to resist Nicks or Blackmon for a 3rd. I think those two are just great talents, far better than anything you're likely to find in the third round. I also don't see as much potential downside in them as I see in Gordon or Britt.
I think you give Matthews his shot no matter what. And this all goes back to how this offense likes to use its receivers. They all should generally be able to play every spot in the offense (x y etc). That is why I would be surprised if they went with a guy under 5-10.
Essentially, it's a lifestyle issue. An attitude issue. Players around him find it frustrating to get through to him. The team at the top seems to flat out hate the man despite their denials of trying to get rid of him.
I would probably be willing to give up a 2nd for Nicks or Blackmon. Nicks might be tougher because you're also going to have to pay him or lose him, and there are injury issues there. I would definitely give up a 2 for Blackmon. I loved him coming out of OK St., and think he would be great in our offense.
Looks like the Seahawks are trying to go after Jared Allen. Pete Carroll and pass rushers, man. Came away from the playoffs last year convinced he didn't have enough of them, has been practically OCD about it ever since. Seeing Robert Quinn in action last night probably didn't help. He probably cried all night out of pure jealousy.
wow, you are even writing full sentences now, they still don't make a lot of sense though...but still nice to see
Blackmon for me. I just think his skillset suits Tannehill and the Offensive system better with what the Phins use. Gordon is good but we have Wallace. Blackmon is more of a complete receiver imo.
I do like how Blackmon acts like the ball belongs to him. He goes after it aggressively. I'm honestly surprised he hasn't had more success.
It's only his second year. In his rookie year with horrible QB play he had almost 900 yards. So far this year, in only 4 games (with the same horrible QB play) he has over 400 yards. I honestly don't see why he would be on the block. I would give up a 2nd round pick for him in a heartbeat.
Armando Salguero just tweeted that Ireland has spent the entire afternoon on the phone talking trades.
Yeah I heard Ireland is at facility but not out at practice per usual. Hes def fielding calls, but is he MAKING calls...thats the question...
Hartline's best route, the one he runs better than pretty much anyone else in the league isn't a slot route. I don't know why you'd move him.
Because he's not a number 2 or 1 receiver for any playoff/contending team in the NFL period. The guy can't separate worth a damn and is slow off the snap. People give him Jordy Nelson comparisons when Jordy is ten times the receiver Hartline is.
i think mathews will be just a fine filler for gibson, if he can learn the offense he had a great game against the colts when he got time!!
Re; Nicks, I seriously doubt they'd let him go for a third based on this article. http://theredzone.org/BlogDescription/tabid/61/EntryId/38430/Giants-GM-won-t-rule-out-trading-Hakeem-Nicks/Default.aspx Something tells me you'd have to over pay to get him at this point.

Twenty. Those comparisons were laughable, only similarity they have is their complexion. When the new GM gets here he'll probably trade Hartline and his 6 mil/yr salary.
I have one point, why not resign reggie bush, hes better than daniel and lamar, granted he does get hurt but you have to use him correctly hes striving in Detroit. should have kept reggie, why not try and trade for AP hes a FA but we have no one to trade, we just gave up a draft pick for McKinney. WE wil not trade for a big name wr philbin doesn't like anyone w status or swagger, im going to be suprised if mike wallace lasts his full contract honestly. Defense is doing there job, now that the line did there job and tannehill still got sacked know who do you guys put the blame on? TANNEHILL hes not a qb sit him down!!! If cincy beat the jets by 200 what is going to happen on thursday? LOL
ya well the jets beat the pats and we lost to em, so your point doesn't hold much weight!! CINCY is getting stronger every week and we get weaker!!!
That's incredibly inaccurate. He's a very solid #2 WR. You don't get 1,000 yards by accident. Also, by saying he isn't a #1 or #2 doesn't mean he should be a slot WR. A good slot WR has a specific skill set. Hartline's best routes are sideline routes coming from an outside alignment. His separation is also not nearly as bad as you claim. His run after the catch is probably his worst attribute, which is something you like to see out of a good slot guy.
LETS HEAR YOU BIAS-NEss on that one? THE AP part? that was far stretched, just sadi ti cuz people were saying larry fitz josh gordon etc thos are all far fetched as well
Can the Dolphins afford cap wise Gordon or Nicks? For some reason I think that if Nicks is traded, Atlanta or Green Bay will get him
haha id rather not even see him on the field, id rather see him on the sideline with a mcdonalds phone on. mathews is going to come in and fill Gibson's shoes just fine you'll see it will take him a week or so to get all the plays but hes fast and agile.
1000 yards being the only receiver last year isn't special. Sorry, he's a terrible number 1 and 2, name me a playoff team last year that would have started him. I wouldn't even put him in front of Randy Moss.
