Love the clips of Parker. This group has the potential to be great. It's going to be a battle. Regardless, we will have some really good depth and rotational guys. Considering all of the quality receivers, the individual numbers may not be very high, but the overall production should be very good.

 

I think that this year's club - and heading into the near future - has the potential to be the most talented 1-4 WR + starting TE we've had since 1993-94, when it was Fryar, Ingram, McDuffie, Martin and Jackson, and I think that we'll likely see a higher level of overall production with the changing nature of the game (and that Marino missed most of 93). We also passed a TON to RBs back in those days, and I don't think that this year's RB crew scratches the surface of the numbers Kirby and Byars had in those days. Similar to last year, we had five players catch 39 or more passes in 92 & 93. I think it would be in no way surprising if we had five catch more than 50 this year.

 

So awesome as a receiver too. Huge hands.

 

Yeah, that's what I really meant. Those two didn't run it a lot, but both were prolific pass catchers. Combined for like 130+ catches in 93. A great outlet for Marino. In results (though not in style or body type) Byars was a lot like Clay. I don't think that this year's RBs catch more than around 60 with all of the other options we have.

When Dan Marino was asked back then who had the softest hands on the team he didn't hesitate to say Keith Byars and Terry Kirby.

 

I remember that. Though OJ later became a favorite of his, for sure. Its sad his career ended the way that it did. Otherwise, he likely would have ended up #1 on a lot of our lists.

 

Well, that would be great, but I'm not going to count on him making a huge contribution in the passing game in year one, regardless of his production in college. Running game? very plausible. I think 500 yards is doable. That's only about 30 a game.
