Let's say I want to play basketball late night, and I'd rather do so at a local basketball court.... all I'm doing is playing basketball. I have nothing illegal on me. There is a sign that states "closed after dawn"
If I am respectful with the officer.... would I get slapped on the wrist with a warning, or is there a possibility of being arrested and charged for trespassing?
I mostly play at 24 hour fitness, Silver Lakes community courts, and at certain schools, but sometimes if I can't sleep late at night I like to shoot around, do suicides, etc. and I like to practice on my own. Can't do so at 24 hour fitness. There are always people there, and I'm not always looking to get into a game. Basketball is one of my favorite ways to just get my mind away from everything else in the world while also getting in a productive workout.
Might be a stupid question but I'm the paranoid type.... I don't have a single mark on my record and I can't afford to ever get one.

BTW - anyone know of any indoor courts in Broward that are kept open at all times?
Used to go to Walter C. Young Middle School but they keep it locked now. -
It really all depends on you and the mood/temperament of the officer. You really can't guarantee that you wouldn't be cited and most officers I know say a lot hinges on how you act towards them. Could really go either way. Long point short: it is technically illegal, however harmless it may be.

ive found in my personal experiences.....the cop will just pull up and be like "hey man, gotta head home" as long as you cooperate i doubt itll be an issue....enless hes a dick

Go ahead man, have fun. If you can play in the dark it's cool man.
Wait, you're out in Silver Lakes as in West Miramar?

That law is never enforced. I'd be shocked if you ever even saw a cop there.

and one of my friends go "why are the lights on?"
cop shrugs....comes out and shoots with us a little bit hahajetssuck, Frumundah Finnatic, MikeHoncho and 1 other person like this. -
HD they probrably wont do much, arresting somebody for trespassing is more paperwork, and takes a cop off the street for that time period over some bull...also it is a weak arrest, and will probably cause the cuy to get his chops busted by his fellow workmates...MikeHoncho likes this. -

HOCKEY!?!?!?! I'd shoot myself. :D
I'll just keep taking my chances. I've been warned before about Silver Lakes pool, but it's not my fault they keep the lights on and the gate open at all times.
Will just park elsewhere.... not a single cop in Broward can catch me on foot.

The paperwork involved for bringing you in would deter any cop IMO (although he might want to see your ID and run it for precaution & to scare you)...... not to mention the razzing he'd get from fellow cops if he booked you. "What'd you do today?" "I took down a guy who was holding up a liquor store with 8 innocent civilians inside". "How about you Dominguez?" <"Ummmm..... I arrested a guy for playing basketball after hours."> "Way to keep the streets safe Dominguez! Let us know if you need backup next time." "Hey Dominguez, was his foot over the free throw line?"
