What was the media narrative around Tua in 2020 when he was drafted? He wasn't hyped at all to be the next best thing in football. If anything, it was quite the opposite.
What media were you watching? All the talking heads were pushing Tua as the most polished, most accurate, we're lucky he had the injury so we had a shot at him. People were saying he might still go #1.
I wish Tua would have gone #1. Then I wish someone released a video of Joe Burrow doing bong hits in a gas mask so #'s 2, 3, and 4 weren't interested. That would have been ideal for us, LOL.
Everything would have been just fine if they had just picked the right QB at 5!! We wouldn’t be having these debates and arguments. We would be discussing the best way to build around our franchise QB.
LMFAO Give me a break. Yeah, EVERY NFL QB has the ability to throw "deep.". Cherry picked stat on his college deep ball completion%. Obviously more time in the pocket allows more opportunities for deep throws, but a weaker armed guy, or a guy who struggles to see NFL open, is going to need even more time, which is our concern. Haters are not people who want unbiased reporting.
Every stat is "cherry picked" when it doesn't pump up somebody's agenda. "Haters" are people who lack the nuance necessary to be objective.

It's cherry picked because they're not telling you how often he threw deep, or how what his average deep ball distance was compared to other QBs. 25 is deep, but if outside of that is uncomfortable for him, then saying her throws a good deep ball, or acting like he was the best in the college football at throwing deep, is disingenuous at best. I think Tua had one ball that ever traveled 50 yards, and he didn't throw deep, if remember correctly, as other college QBs playing during his college days. So yeah, that stat is misleading. It didn't actually tell you anything. Pointing that out doesn't make me, or anyone else, a hater. Go back and watch the video Sceeto posted and then think about someone saying that there reality isn't any throw he can't make. Is a Dolphins coach gonna come out and say that Tua is limited in the throws he can make? I mean, come on man. And you want to say I'm not being objective?
If you expect someone with no time to throw the ball to launch it deep more than a couple of times per game, you're either high or being deceitful. That's why talking about "cherry picked stats" as being those without context is a disingenuous argument. I know you have your agenda to protect and I understand and appreciate your point of view. It's interesting that none of the "pro-Tua" posters has annointed him as a success in this thread but somehow, the posters on the other side of the divide have already thrown dirt on him. I'll let you figure out which of those is an objective view.
In Herbert's first year off the bench, he had the worst OL in the league and uhh, he threw it deep quite a bit and very well. Same thing with R. Wilson and others. Stop with the excuses.
By what metric was his OL the worst? You've said it before, but it sounds a lot like you're cherry picking the stat without support.
It's a simple question. What team are you going to root for Week 14? The Dolphins or the Chargers? I would guess you probably want the Dolphins to win, although I'm not 100% sure on that. You might want the Chargers to win. I am sure you would want Herbert to have better stats than Tua no matter what because that means alot to the Herbert fans. It's a bit of a pickle for you. I would say there would be a few people on here that wouldn't mind if the Chargers won that game and Herbert finally beat Tua so they can wallow about that 2020 draft again. Will be an interesting game and atmosphere on this forum.

Sometimes, we draw lines in the sand and put our credibility at risk. A lot of people have done that regarding this young man. Despite their declarations to the contrary, you can't convince me that 20% of Dolphins fans aren't actively rooting against the QB, yet somehow hoping we still win. I don't question anybody's fandom in this or most regards, but I suspect that a lot of us want to see us win in spite of Tua, and not because of him. I previously mentioned that the "pro-Tua" fans have not declared him to be a top-tier QB, but believe he's more than sufficient at the position if given the proper support. Meanwhile, the detractors have fully declared him a bust with little reason other than their subjective belief. We're about to find out and that'll be interesting. Personally, I'll never root against a player in a Dolphins uniform. And in spite of being lumped in as a "Tua lover", I have zero plans of rooting for him when he takes it off and dons another team's gear. So that phrase is moot. This is one of the most interesting debates I can recall regarding the Phins. I wasn't here when you all were fighting over Tannehill, but I can't believe it was as contentious as this is now.

People do that with every quarterback, and you're probably right that some here love the Fins yet want to see him fail. But calling them out on it almost feels like crossing a line. Sure, they'd rather have Herbert, Burrow, Watson or whoever...but that's their right. While I'm mostly on your side in this argument, it does feel like you're questioning their fandom. That why the arguments persist. On this point you're wrong- you're trying to play both sides of the coin to your favor. Some here do think Tua is all-pro. Some do think he's lousy while others think he's average. And that's 100% fine- people will believe what they believe. Nobody here has said he's a complete bust though, so don't portray it that way. This comment sort of floored me because you're making it out like it's inevitable for him to get cut/traded. If he is who you think he is, then he should stick around for awhile. Yeah, the Tannehill thread went on for about six years and 90% of the folks here were completely sick of it. But there was a lesson to be learned there as well since a lot of folks quit the site over the post or ended up getting themselves banned. There's no need to feverishly argue with everyone that doesn't believe what you believe. It's okay Resnor thinks Tua is merely average and can't throw deep. It's okay that I think he's going to have a breakout season. The lesson here is that we can exist in the same world and have civil conversations, even when we don't agree at all. Because I promise you one thing- you'll never convince someone anti-Tua that he's a solid QB on a forum. That's just not how life works on the internet, LOL. It's 100% fine to disagree BUT remember that the unwritten rule here is to attack the post, not the poster. It's always walking a thin line when you say "those people" in any context...because "those people" are here because they're Dolphin fans. At the end of the day, Tua will do all the talking for this forum over the next few seasons. Either he's great or he's not. That's good to see; and I love that Hill is the one posting it to have his QB's back. Tua looks pretty darn jacked too; certainly looks like he's bulked up. Encouraging to see but the proof is in the pudding when week 1 rolls around. We'll find out pretty quickly this season if Tua is indeed the problem or not. I still have some OL concerns and maybe that's just battered Dolphins fan syndrome kicking in but the work we've done to build an offense around him in one offseason is also encouraging to see and it's either Tua time this year and moving forward or QB shopping next year IMO.
