Watching the game, he allowed atleast one sacked completely whiffing his block, did not look solid for his price. Still better then anyone of our line
Well he 2 straight plays blocked nobody i think both were sacks. I think we got a bargain didn't even make a pro bowl
Tunsil looks awful and their OL is terrible. We will see if he picks it up after getting more time and practices, but yeah tonight is not his night for sure.
6 sacks so far on Deshaun Watson and Tunsil has been a revolving door. 6 sacks on Week 1 after giving up a ransom for Tunsil..
Other people also now counted 3 sacks on Tunsil We won that trade, we got paid Qb ransom for an average LT. He is no Walter Jones
On a side note, it's always nice to see Ted Ginn still be productive in the league.. never lived up to his draft stock but turned out to be a solid NFL player in his 13th season..
Deshaun Watson is an amazing player btw... not sure how he wasnt a consensus first pick overall in his draft after what he did in Clemson... Id say hes more talented than Murray and Mayfield... Chicago screwed that pick up twice with Mahomes and Watson..
new system, new teammates, and playing IN New Orleans. He played good and provided protection HOU hasn't had in years from the LT position. One of those sacks is on the QB for not changing up the call at the L.O.S. or an offsides. But yeah, he looked understandably rusty. Then Still catches what should have been the winning TD. HOU almost beat NO who are SB contenders, in their home. Not a bad return for a couple of likely mid 20s picks
Don’t you know we have “Fear the Grier” who is guaranteed to take those mid 20’s picks and add them to the pantheon of great picks such as Harris, Minkah, and Wilkins.
No, and I stand corrected. I never said we lost that trade. I just think it's early and Tunsil is still getting acclimated. I hope Houston loses every game this year for our sake. We definitely robbed them.
I’m not ready to celebrate the fleecing just yet. We still have to wait for the fat lady to sing and since Grier is the conductor I am not as optimistic as I would like to be.
Agreed. It’s funny to me that people think football is like Madden where you can just plug in a player that is rated 93 and he will play like a 93 immediately on any team. He’s a good player who will improve pretty quickly. I still think we got the best of that trade but I wouldn’t use his first game, 8 days into being a Texan as the litmus test.
You should probably get as many of these posts in as you can, by week 4 he will be back on top as one of the best Left Tackles in the game. I'm not really sure why we would be celebrating a guy struggling who ACTUALLY wanted to stay a Dolphin...
Man give the guy a break his world got turned upside down just two weeks ago had to move, read playbook, understand new assignments, etc he will be just fine and they will good
Yes if he was getting beat on stunts but if you watched the game he got beat one on one. That isn't about play book, new system. I always thought he was an above average player and hated to see him go but for the price it was well worth it. And that traitor Stills is still disrespecting the flag now in Houston. Good riddance.
Heck no- Tunsil was a great guy and a great lineman. I wish nothing but the best for him moving forward and I hope he becomes the best LT in the game.
He can become the best LT in the game next season. We need him to "struggle" this season and get us a better pick. Not sure that's going to happen as Houston looked decent besides their opening night struggle.
Sorry but no, you can cheer for Texans to lose without delighting in a Left Tackle that was loyal to us having a horrible game. I don't see those 2 things being the same.
I dont really think anyone is "delighting" in him playing poorly. But he did, and pointing it out and how that may help our draft pick is fine.
I heard that was one heck of a game. But yeah, we're definitely rooting for Houston to go 0-16 right along with us. It won't happen but still, we have to root for something, right?
Just to clarify, I loved Laremy Tunsil! I was floored the day we traded him, but done is done. I certainly wish him the best as I usually do with any former players of ours. I live in Tennessee so it's especially nice to see both Tannehill and Cam Wake on the Titans. I will watch them just for the fact that those guys are on their roster.
The trade was good for us but in tunsils defence he has to learn a whole new offence and this is like learning a new language in a week. Not to mention I'm sure he was struggling with all the audibles Watson was calling and not sure who to pick up.
It's almost like he fits some kind of weird and inexplicable pattern. The world may never know. But hey, I'm sure Bill Polian thought he could've been a great wideout.
I also live in Tennessee and I told everyone they got a heck of a player in Wake. Dolphins fan forever but really on the Titans train. They looked pretty good.
I doubt anybody has any rancor towards Tunsil, but I'm equally sure that people are happy to see Houston lose. But to be clear, Tunsil has never been one of the Ts in the league. By every rating he's always been about middle of the pack. He's basically slightly above average as pass blocker and below average as a run blocker. He's also very penalty prone. Tunsil's value is in his potential. The belief that when he develops he may become one of the top Ts in the game. But objectively he is not there yet. Actually, that's similar to the value we have in the picks we got. It's their potential. But it's three to one in terms of potential in our favor. Plus the salary cap savings. There is something more to Tunsil's potential since he seems to be a good guy, hard worker and unlikely to be a complete bust, but it's not accurate to label him as a great player yet.
