By now we know Porter will not be active tommorrow and that has nothing to do with Turner cause Crowder will take his spot, but Smiley, Soliai & Walden are all doubful and Fasano is questionable. Turner has a great chance to play and it would not surprise me to see him active tommorrow.
Im not trying to be pessamistic but its hard for me to be excited for a guy who looks as if he has to get lucky to even suit up. Its way too early to judge but their were a couple mistakes early in our draft.
At this point many of our receivers have played very inconsistently Turner is looked on as the great hope, much like London was last year. Of course we all know how that worked out. But to be honest I am excited to see Turner get on the field. I mean whats the worst that can happen....he drops a ball. We haven't seen that yet this year.
We had such a great draft with, Davis, White (to an extent), Smith, Hartline and Clemons all contributing and some even showing future star potential that the odds seem to be against Turner or any of the others also being great picks. I know one doesn't have anything to do with the other but it is very unlikely that we hit on every pick. Heck, it's very unlikely that any team hits on half of their picks.
i think it shows how disappointed the FO must be with turner....considering we have polite and haynos split out as WRs rather than activating the 3rd round pick turner.....its "telling" imo
At this point it's ridiculous not to give him a shot. I don't care how he looks in practice. Didn't Ginn look like an all world receiver in practice this summer? I recall Sparano praising him every opportunity he got. On the other hand, I can't recall hearing too much about the dropsies then. Let's see what Turner can do in game. What's the worst thing that could happen, he drops a pass that Ginn, Bess, Hartline, or Fasano drops without him on the field? Nothing to lose, much to gain.
Talking to Ireland and Sparano tonight, his time is coming very soon. He is virtually guaranteed to play at some point. He's been practicing better and better. And Sparano is a guy that likes to go into an offseason knowing what he has in a young player rather than wondering.
I think we saw worse. When Ginn caught the ball and proceeded to throw it off the defenders chest into Sharpers hands for the pick 6.
I see very little chance for Turner to play today at least. Erik Walden is out leaving a hole in the special teams, add in the Bucs have two returners in Stroughter and Clifton Smith who can take any kick return to the house and Turner's newbie ST status would seem to me to preclude him from playing today.
On the NFL site Turner is listed as ACT . Not sure if thats how its been in past weeks but its showing him as active today.
Turner will be the best WR on this team. It may take until next year but, it will happen. Of this, I am sure.
