I threw this together for those that asked. I suck when it comes to making tutorials and I'm sure that I'm probably going to confuse you even more with this, but....Hope it helps. You'll be making this. Here is the tut
what do you think l2g? that was fun to make. finally used the pen tool and liked the end product. i had absolutely no clue about the stroke feature on the pen. Could be one of my favorite tools now.
Awesome job I'd like to see what others come up with as well. Yeah, I was never a big user of the pen tool until recently, now I'm looking for ways to use it in everything I make. I'm still going to do my cuts with the eraser, but the pen tool now has a place in my arsenal. Glad you found the tutorial helpful.
wow l2g, i really like your ronnie sig... the pen strokes around him really remind me of the "gamebreakers" from nba streets (video game). the stadium in the background doesnt hurt at all... nice touch.
Unfortunately, a) I don't have Photoshop, and b) I've never been any good at selecting which parts of a picture I want to cut out. I've tried using the "lasso select" with freeware programs like Photofiltre, but the borders turn out extremely jagged and uneven. Then again, maybe it might be that I'm simply trying too much to get it "more perfect" than what it needs to be. Any suggestions would be appreciated (except for maybe "buy Photoshop" because I just don't have the dinero to make that happen).
Yeah, I don't like the lasso tool and never use it. I do all of my cuts with the eraser, larger eraser for the majority of the cut and smaller eraser for the tight spots and detail.
alright i got up to the part with the pen tool (even though the splatter brushes don't really look like what you've got in your sig....) when I make the new image and draw the line....when i go to "pull" the middle of the line all it does is spin it in a circle or create a new line off that one.... dont know if that makes any sense but i'm having a hard time with this part...
You can download splatter brushes here Browsing Application Resources on deviantART Find your program brushes in the lefthand menu and then search for splatter brushes. Hmmm....Lets make sure that you're using the right tool and then I'll show you the process. This is the pen tool http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k88/like2god/other/PenTool.gif Alright, before you do your line make sure to make a new layer and that these boxes are selected (right click for Stroke Path). http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k88/like2god/other/StrokePath.gif Make sure to click this box http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k88/like2god/other/Simulate.gif And then right click again to delete the path http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k88/like2god/other/Delete.gif Hope that helps
twas the 2nd img..... now when i drag the stroke thingie onto my img it takes the whole black bg and all did i mention im trying this as my first time with photoshop too??? lol....I use psp
btw how happy am i that youre online.....lol ive been sitting here going ****! ****! NO! THATS NOT IT! CRAP!
Go to your regular brushes on the left and make sure that you have a hard round brush somewhere between 5-15 pixels depending on how big you want the design to be. Then go back to your pen tool. Edit* If it's your first time doing this in Photoshop, just play around a little bit to familiarize yourself with the tools.
wait wait...lemme catch you up here. I figured out how to get the squiggly line...and we figured out the stroke path and the delete path....now when i go to drag the squiggly onto my football player img it takes the squiggly line and the whole background with it..... lemme know if i need to take screenshots....maybe that will explain better....
DUH....when i was making a new img i wasn't putting a transparent bg....sorry that was just a blonde mistake....
Sounds like you made your squiggle on the same layer as your background or else you have them linked. Make sure that you make the squiggle in a new layer and let me know if that works. Just hit Ctrl + Atl + Z until you get back to where you want to be. If you go too far, click Ctrl + Shift + Z to go ahead.
No worries, but it is easier to make the squiggle with a background so you can see how it looks. Just put the squiggle on it's own layer.
thanks fellas if i can find a crack for photoshop i think i'll keep trying to use it....the brushes are MUCH easier to use...and there's a brush for every want on deviantart...lol i just need to fool around with it awhile to find my own niche with it.
