Dolphins' Tyreek Hill Says He is 'Opening Door' On Leaving Miami https://www.newsweek.com/sports/nfl/dolphins-tyreek-hill-says-he-opening-door-leaving-miami-2010049 "For me, l gotta do what is best for me and my family. If that is here, or wherever the case may be. I am going to open that door for me. I am opening that door. I'm out. It was great playing here, but I gotta do what is best for my career." Hill simply ended the interview on a cliffhanger when he was asked if he wanted to leave the Dolphins. However, based on his comments, it sounds like the star receiver does not want to remain with Miami for another season.
His contract doesn’t really allow for him to leave until after next year. it’s too bad. He’s ended up being a really selfish person. The 1st year he didn’t get his he’s out.
If he wants out, that makes it easier for us to get more in return. Need a GM that's good at making deals though.
Except his contract numbers may not allow that. But I’m not a cap guy and all those numbers can be manipulated.
What’s best for him and his family would be if he thought he could get more $$$ elsewhere, which isn’t going to happen. Whatever. Don’t let the door hit you where the good Lord split you.
Yeah I'm not saying that he can get his wish. Just that he said those words. When have we ever seen a scenario like this go well by keeping the player against his wishes? Just what we need will be a pissed off petty WR.
What I would ask him is why? Some here are saying he’s being selfish, and that may indeed be simply that but being a “leader” on the team, it would be interesting to know about any insight he might have on the locker room, players or staff. If I’m Ross, who pulled out the checkbook for him, I’d ask him just that…why? What’s going on?
He will have to help us significantly to make that happen because we cant outright trade him due to his contract.. apparently tyreek hill did not feel like playing the fourth quarter and quit on the team..
Yes we can. A post June 1st trade would save about $15-16m of cap space in 2025, but would push some dead money (I don’t know how much) into 2026.
I know he hasn't been at his best this season but why would you want to stay with a team with Ross as an owner, Grier as GM and a poor QB?
Tua should come out and say he needs a #1 receiver he can count on to not get arrested on game day and tear a ligament in his wrist derailing the entire season.
I hate to say it this way, but good riddance. I've never, ever had the patience to tolerate a diva, and that's exactly what he has become. Tyreek was named the best player in the league entering this season...and he quit on his team in multiple games this year (not just week 18). I would have him on a bus to Cleveland in a heartbeat.
His after game speech bothers me, but at least there’s some sort of an excuse of just being angry because he’s a competitor, but his quitting on the team mid game is unacceptable and unforgivable. You don’t quit on your teammates just because you’re out of the playoffs. He quit when the Dolphins were still in the game. F^ck that guy.
Dolphins G.M. Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel will be back for 2025. And they’ll get started on the offseason with a potential contract mess involving the team’s best player. Beyond the fact that receiver Tyreek Hill said Sunday that he wants out, Hill apparent refusal to play on Sunday could trigger a contract showdown, which could allow the Dolphins to wipe out his remaining guarantees. It also could allow the Dolphins to pursue partial repayment of more than $24 million in signing bonus and roster bonus money received in 2024. For 2025, Hill has a $15.85 million option bonus, a $10 million salary, a $1 million roster bonus, $1.8 million in per-game roster bonuses, and a $100,000 offseason workout bonus. All payments are fully guaranteed, for now. (The per-game roster bonus and offseason workout bonus must be earned, but are guaranteed.) The current deal could be traded, with or without the guarantees being voided. Would someone commit $29.65 million in cash to him for 2025? As one source with extensive personnel evaluation experience put it on Monday, he’s still worth that kind of money but he’s definitely not as good as he used to be. There’s also the headache factor. The Chiefs decided after the 2021 season that they had enough. Hill, after trying his best to not be a pain in the *** for the Dolphins, finally snapped on Sunday. Whoever trades for him becomes the next team he might turn against. Now that he has turned against the Dolphins, what will they do? Turn the other cheek? Or turn up the heat and play some hardball? They have options. And it could get interesting.
Anyone who didn't see Tyreek Hill turning into a problem coming in a cab down main street just wasn't paying attention. He's a super gifted athlete, but a not so great human being. Let him be another team's problem. His play went off a cliff this year, and I don't expect it will get any better as his off the field issues and obligations grow.
Yeah, 319 receptions, 4468 yards, and 26 touchdowns over the last 3 years and he’s got a poor quarterback.
Weren't we voted best team or second best to play for by the players just last season? The only complaint we heard was about Vic Fangio who was replaced with Weaver. Then in the off season Tua, Waddle, Hill, Ramsey all get paid/extended as well as McDaniel getting an extension. Now these spoiled b!tches want to cry and jump ship like rats because we miss the playoffs? This kind of behavior is what makes me wonder why I care anymore. I was at the game yesterday packed with Dolphin fans freezing our nuts off and I keep seeing shots of Tua walking around looking like Stevie Wonder, our team folding like a chair, and a coach who can't put together a game plan to beat one of the biggest garbage teams in the league. If I’m Stephen Ross I’m pulling in any of these babies and telling them cut the crying or they'll be rotting on the practice squad. You signed a contract and if you don't like it quit. Trade Hill to Cleveland. His behavior off the field is an embarrassment to the franchise. He'll fit in just fine with Watson. And McDaniel is on borrowed time if you want my honest opinion. Weaver will be the interim HC before Thanksgiving next year.
Hopefully he refused to play and that will open an opportunity for the Dolphins to void his contract.
I'm reading that's a strong possibility. And if if that isn't the case, they could trade him after June 1st and get a ~$15m cap savings next year. However, we would get some dead money in 2026. I'm not sure how much, but probably around $15-$20m...which would suck. Hopefully his actions allowed the Dolphins to cut him free and clear.
Sieler and Chubb made some comments today: This has to be directed at Tyreek. I feel like nobody likes him. This team might be even more dysfunctional than I thought. It seems like nobody likes each other. This is all on the head coach. If Tua doesn't stay healthy next year, it's complete rebuild time.
Maybe him taking himself out of the game on Sunday? Maybe him calling out sick to work on Friday and getting caught working at his store? Maybe his trolling tweets all year about him wanting to be somewhere else?
Or maybe just nobody likes Tyreek; it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s complete dysfunction. It is time for McDaniel to step up and become a better head coach and not just a glorified play caller.
