Should be a very interesting PPV. Wondering who you guys thought was going to win. Also Thiago Alves was pulled from PPV and replaced by Ben Saunders.
-
CT scan put Alves out of the fight. They don't have enough time to look further into it, so the NJ state athletic commission is being safe.

Lets see how good he looks after Carwin punches him in da face!!!charlestonphan and SICK like this.

I didn't realize that was starting on 'this' card.
Might just try that! -

The match they showed after GSP-Hardy was probably fight of the night IMO. Great fight.
Carwin is for real. Can't wait for he and Brock to throw down. The two biggest, baddest dudes out there. -
I didn't realize that Carwin still was a part-time fighter. Good lord.

That was a horrible stoppage. He was defenseless for at least 5 punches and it could have cause serious damage.
Carwin v.s. Brock should be a great fight. I think Carwin will try and stand up while Brock will try and take him down. This fight is gunna get alot of Hype!
GSP is so good and is wrestling is elite. Its bad when you know the guy is gunna shoot and take you down and you still can't stop him.
Alot of props to Hardy for being a good sport after he loss and for not tapping. That arm bar was nasty and so was the omiplatacharlestonphan and SICK like this. -
the only thing about gsp, which is with all of his fights, its sad when the "highlight" of the fight was hardy NOT tapping.
I understand its like complaining when a team pounds the ball on the ground in football if the defense cant stop them. but its time for gsp to finish opponents. until then, imo hes 3rd in the pound for pound rankings.

GSP needs to finish some of these guys. -
Frank Mir just can not stand getting punched in the face...the one ability one needs to have....when they are getting punched in the face for living
While I would like for GSP to finish fights, he plays it safe. He wanted no part of Hardy's striking, and just kept on dropping him to avoid another upset. Im fine with watching him for five rounds. -
i agree he doesnt need to stand with him. but once he takes him down, it'd be nice to see him finish fights. 4 of his last 7 have gone to decision, with the penn fight ending in the 4th of 5th round due to corner stoppage.
he needs to finish, end of story. -
I can't knock GSP too bad for not finishing when the dude simply wouldn't tap.
Kinda like when Hughes broke Gracie's arm a few years ago. You could see Hardy wincing badly, then just going blank with his eyes closed. Guy was passing his own pain threshold. But it's nice to see Georges say the same things after the fight and in the PC. That he feels he should have finished and apologized to the fans for it.
He finished B.J. though. Beat him up so badly he couldn't continue. Penn's another guy that just doesn't tap.Skeet84, charlestonphan and alen1 like this. -
GSP chose not to finish him. He could have snapped Hardy's arm in half and chose not to.
At one point I swear he looked to his coner to say,
"I'm gonna let go of his arm now, becasue I if I bend it anymore I will snap this guys arm like a twig."
And 3 seconds later, he let go, let hardy up and had him on his backs 15 seconds later.
GSP did whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted last night.charlestonphan and #1 fan like this. -
I respect gsp a ton. One of the p4p bests. But his fights suck for fans like me because I'm a boxing guy and I like boxing, but its not just that. Gsp, simply just wrestled with the occasional elbow and submittion attempt. All he really did was keep taking hardy down and wrestling with him. No damage at all while down that, at least pound him out if you can control him so well. He's the best wrestler in the sport and very smart. Just not a fan of his. Props to him to letting hardy go and to dan for not knowing the meaning of tap
-
count me among those who think GSP chose not to break his arm or dislocate his shoulder.
he could have taken a year from the guys career and food off his table. but he chose not to. at least that's what i saw.
and then to take it upon himself by saying he was sorry he didn't finish the fight. i gained more respect for him after that fight.
and i am not sniffing his jock: i am still smarting over him destroying Matt Hughes in their last fight.
all that said, i am foresquare on Shane Carwin's bandwagon. if his wrestling can stalemate Lesnar's, i think he beats him by KO. -
Yeah it looked to me like GSP was looking at the ref during one of those submissions.
Anyway, it will be interesting to see what happens if/when somebody actually hits Lesnar. Nobody's really popped him yet. Carwin is a better striker and can put anybody's lights out.
OT: pretty interesting quotes from Lesnar last night. Dana said he was rooting for Mir because he wanted to beat him up again (probably has something to do with Mir's "I want him to die in the ring" comments last month). But Lesnar said he told Dana that Carwin would win in under 2 minutes. He was right.
That's not the worst thing in the world. Big, athletic heavyweights that throw bombs sell tickets. Ironically, Lesnar is probably the least accomplished striker of that bunch.
Dana also said today that Cain Velasquez will get the winner of Carwin-Lesnar, and probably won't fight again until then.
