OK, sorry if this had been addressed already but I just saw this and didn't see any posts related... LOL! Omar has obviously been paying attention to things here or at least that's my view given that I distinctly recall our discussion on this... Just thought I'd stir up the discussion. OMAR BLOG
And admittedly so. I've talked to guys who say that's exactly why they do it. We're their audience, why not? I don't think it's a secretive thing anymore.
No, but it is funny how those who get paid take the ideas from the people who do it for free, and then can have attitudes when asked about their ideas. I'm not saying Omar has attitude, but some wirters act as though we - the fans - have no idea. Yet, we're smart enough to know where some of their ideas come from.
At least he admitted to reading blogs I guess. Yeah, I don't know about a "threat" but his name mentioned in one of the Training camp articles where we talked about Wake etc. and the linebacking corps..
He obviously reads this site. There was a thread that somebody had titled "Omar says Wake won't make team" or words to that effect. Many posters correctly pointed out that Omar hadn't said that in his article.
That's the one. I think the original title got edited from the inaccurate "Omar says Wake to be cut". That's why all the early responses were saying there's no way Wake is cut.
It's probably from finheaven, where the discussion got pretty heated. I'm not sure if it's alright to post links to them here, but the thread was at: http://www.finheaven.com/forums/f2/omar-predicts-wake-will-not-make-roster-251221.html
Omar sucks anyways.. Hear that omar.. your "ANALysis" blows and your interview skills are HORRIBLE...
I'm not comfortable treating Omar this way, he does his job as best he can, and some of his stuff is decent. If he does visit this site, I would sure hate to drive him away by being crass towards the guy. Whether he qualifies as a good reporter or bad, I enjoy reading his stuff, especially this time of year, because he writes about our team, and we crave that reading. Yes I may disagree with some or even a lot of his stuff, but I don't think we should treat him the way some of the above posts do. Just as we give each other respect in here, why can't wa show a Dolphins reporter some respect? especially if he visits this site, doesn't that make him sort of part of the family?
Exactly, Omar Kelly does a his job well, no need to bash the man. Omar's eye is pretty good, especially when considering just how tight Sparano and Co. are with even the blandest of statements, Omar K is sort of on his own when it comes to player evals, and I'd prefer to have a man on the scene commenting with his own opinion then trying to sort through the Dove Entrails of a Sparano presser or watching 5 second long clips on Aquavision.
There are folks in the South Florida media who read this site and others, Omar is no different. A good example would be last year when he was begging people on SS to sign up and vote for him and Harvey in one of ck's polls on the "best Miami Dolphin beat writers". Of course, after it was pointed out and many of us (okay, well...me) laughed at how ridiculous it was until my sides hurt, the requests and updates were removed from the Sentinel website. After his "guarantees" of who was going to make the roster, his skewed and childish reporting of Beck, and the completely unprofessional way he called Harvey out in his blog, I dont take anything Omar says seriously.
