All day Saturday I had to endure watching NFL Network run an ad which promotes next weeks Giant vs. Pats game on NFL Network.
The problem?
The ad opens with a "News Report" saying "Now that the Patriots have defeated the Dolphins..... in their quest for perfection... " basically announcing our (expected) loss as if it had already happened.
Then the guys in "Joe's diner" then spend thewhole commercial talking about whther the Giants can beat the Pats, and that they are the LAST thing that remains between the Pats and history. Since when was it classy, or even ACEEPTABLE for the NFL ITSELF to disregard a team's chances before a game? Even coaches and players know enough to respect opponents, even underdogs. The LEAGUE and its TV station should at LEAST equal that standard.
What a blatant smack to the frigging face of the Dolphins organizaon and us, the fans. Being insulted by the NFL itself.
This is hard enough to bear from the normal media, but this is the LEAGUE'S station/
A station owned and operated by the league has NO business a day BEFORE a game already assuming one of their 32 franchises will lose.
If I were Huizenga I'd be so pissed I'd pick up a phone to the league office. To be belittled and disregarded so the league can hurry up and promote it's OWN televised game NEXT week, at the expense of the reputation of one of their own franchises.
THIS is why the NFL has no bloody business televising games. It is already producing warped priorities and sickening conflicts of interest between a league mandate to maintain the integrity and reputation of its franchises (ask Wayne if he likes his $1 billion investment being denigrated by the league) and making money off its TV ads and televised games.
I think we should complain to the Commissioner's office.
If you agree, here is how you could voice your complaint:
Roger Goodell’s Email Address (NFL Commissioner): Roger.Goodell2@nfl.net
Telephone #: 1-212-450-2000 or (212) 450-2027

That is harsh, I will admit... Hopefully we destroy them. I just have this feeling that we'll hit a deep pass to win the game as time expires... then a ghost PI call will bring back the call... thus giving the Pats the win. Just a gut feeling, don't know why.
-
I e-mailed Goodell, e-mailed the COntact US box on NFL.com (surely re-routed to a Customer Call Center in Burundi by now), and CC'd the gossip-lovers at ProFootballTalk.com
I've said my piece now,and it's time to move on.
I only wish Cam and the PLAYERS could watch that commerical!!! Hoo, would it ever piss me off as a player. I'd die trying to win that game.

I hope we destroy the patriots now more than ever after reading this thread.
-
As if the Pats need assistance in getting a win. The referees do make calls for the Pats all the time. And NFL Network and ESPN only want to talk about New England and Dallas. You would think they were the only 2 teams in the entire NFL.
-
I agree. All day the hype was on the "undefeated" Patriots against the Giants . I was shocked they had the nerve to do that. A win for us today is improbable not IMPOSSIBLE so it twisted my gut every time I saw that commercial. It would be sweet beyond belief if we pull it out. If Brady gets smacked around a little that wont be so bad either.
-
I say the league needs to grant the Dolphins an extra pick for that.
Second round.
Unacceptable, unless the whole league is a sham and the outcome of games is rigged.
Maybe it's all just a reality TV soap opera for men.:( -
honestly guys, there is like a 90% chance this team will beat us and like a 70% chance they will whoop the crap out of us. I hope somehow we win but its just being realistic.
-
i hope the giants lose to the bills today and are forced to play starters vs. the pats. GO BILLS
-
Agreed, I do think that defaming one of their own franchises has stooped way down past previous NFL standards. As a Dolphin fan for as long as I can remember, I am outraged at not only this commercial, but the NFL pregame shows as well.
Granted, being 1-13 doesnt deserve credit, but it doesnt deserve complete defamation. -
I hope Brady takes a vicious shot today. I don't want him to get injured badly. But those record chasers need to know why you sit your stars when you have homefield locked up. I hope we play with fury today.
-
I saw that commercial last night and thought I was losing my mind. Good to see the NFL isn't giving us any respect. Hopefully the team caught the game (and the commercial) last night, and can use it as motivation today.
-
Before I say this, I don't want to hear about how inhumane the comment is or how I shouldn't wish this (I am one that doesn't like to see players hurt) because the way I see it.....it's an eye for an eye.
I hope our defense puts Brady out of the game....HARD. A concussion would be nice. You know, the kind that leaves the guy wondering how he got to the stadium. The kind that has him wandering around the field singing, "I'm a lil teapot...." The kind that will follow him far into the post season.
If this is the treatment that the NFL chooses to give the Phins, then I have no problem wishing that the NFL gets robbed of their golden boy. The NFL is supposed to be impartial but this only shows me just how partial they are. Expect to get beat today since it seems that the NFL is literally guaranteeing a Pats victory.....whether it be a fair game or not (I am suspecting "NOT"). Expect many calls to go the Pats way. Me? I expect our defense to hurt Brady as badly as possible. Screw sportsmanship. Sportsmanship is reserved for a level playing field. This one will be anything but level. If for some reason we don't win this game, we should at least make the Pats sorry that they played it.
GIVE EM HELL PHINS!!! -
The decision to play their starters while already clinching the division couldn't be more arrogant. We need to make them pay.
-
I expect a little dirty action from our D today! I won't mind some flags. He is the NFL golden boy and I want the Dolphins defense to mess him up!
Go Fins!!!!!! -
-
i want to kill NE like 45-0 even though that wont happen i want it to just to have all that people in the world that say NE is going undefeated i want them to SHUT UP
-
screw sportsmanship. who cares if brady gets hurt? its not like hes some fringe player hanging on to his career. i would love to see brady tear an acl.
-
How did you get Goddell's e-mail address. :ffic:
-
I'm not going to wish injury on Brady, but Bellicheat sure would look like a genius if Brady went down for the rest of the year today... Or even if Moss went down...
-
I hope the Giants play there seconds, cos the pats will be 14-1. :-)
I saw that yesterday, Even on NFL.com they were promoting the Giants - Gaytriots!
Ie got 40 Bucks Riding on the Fins winning! 420 bucks back if they doo! WAHOO!
HOPE THE FINS KNOW THE LEAGUE IS LOOKIN ON US AS HAVING NO CHANCE! I Like that,
Cos when we Destry them tonight, The legue can Kiss the Big *** of the Whole Dolphin Organisation.
if we loose. Go Giants!
lol -

Interestingly enough, even though the commercial is in heavy rotation on the NFL Network, it's not up online at http://joes.nfl.com/. You'd think they would have it available online to view ...

I love your thinking, brother. -
Belichick has never done it. In 2003 and 2004, when 14-2, he never did it. It seemed to work out pretty well. In 2005, the Colts did it, didn't work. It works for some teams, it doesn't work for others. Clearly, Belichick believes in playing his guys as much as possible, and it's been successful. You just can't relax for a full month and expect to flip the switch to playoff football mode, very likely against someone who's had to fight and grind for where they are at for the last 6 weeks.
Why change it? If someone gets injured, that's what you deal with. It's a price you pay.
On the flip side, the Chargers played their starters until the third quarter. They lost but, I feel that was a good move for them. They lost on a boneheaded play to a playoff-veteran team. But regardless, were you out here calling for LTs kneecaps to be shot off by a sniper in the stands?
Regardless, when you're 1-13 you don't deserve for people to think you're going to win against the best team in the NFL.Last edited: Dec 23, 2007 -
lets thank the NFLN, the hex is in.

Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?

You'll be singing a different tune if any of the above go down.
