Which version of the Logitech Harmony Series remotes does anyone have? And how do you like it? I am looking at the 880, does anyone have this particular model? Is there a better one out there?

I have the Harmony 880 and it's been bliss. But pretty much any of the Harmony remotes will do you good.

I have a Harmony One and it is one of the best home entertainment investments I have made. I love it.

Stitches' 5 ways to enjoy a Harmony Remote blog entry:

#1. Play around with it since all the DVD's have been stolen anyways.
#2. Impress the future fiancee into marrying you.
#3. It can be a lightsaber. Or it can be a Star Trek phaser. Or Harry Potter's super-technologically advanced wand. Game. Over.
#4. Pretend you're the conductor of an 3 piece orchestra that includes a 7.1 surround sound system, flat screen TV, and a Blu-Ray player.
#5. Relish in the fact that it's more useful than a Wii remote.

    :tongue2:

So one last question...will it control ALL functions of your a/v receiver? For example, switching between sound modes and switching inputs (dvd, video1, video2, etc.)

It may vary on device or brand but for me it controls every function.

Will it work with both infared and rf signals?

Can't recall off the top of my head whether it was the One or the 1000 (I think it is 1000), but I think one of them was able to do both so long as there was the proper adapter/transmitter (purchased separately). One of them may not have needed extra equipment, but I cannot remember for certain.

I know it was no issue in my decision.

The 890 I believe has RF signals allowing it to go through walls. The 880 does not have that feature.

I have the 670 model and a transmitter that is so-so.

I believe only the 890 and the 1000 Harmonys are rf.
I just ordered the 880 should be delivered today.

FYI, you can purchase IR repeaters which extend the range of the IR remote and let you use it in a similar fashion as an rf. But from what I have seen, if you need to go through walls, cabinets etc, you are better off going with rf.

Here is a good site re: remote controls:
