I grew up very close to the U of D where current Baltimore Raven Joe Flacco was picked 18th in the Draft and former Raider Rich Gannon was also picked somewhere in the draft. Jamaal Jackson from the Eagles went to Delaware St. which I'm currently living near now. My question is I know DE is considered a small school.. but I want to know is it just the division it's in that doesn't give it the national exposure or what? ex: how come the florida gators get a lot of attention but UD doesn't? Is it purely the size of the school?
well, because good teams get attention. delaware cant sell top prospects to go there. and the state of delaware isn't exactly a hotbed for 5star prospects.
Its the potential NFL players factor. Every team scout will look at these schools, from the powerhouses of the SEC to the division 2 schools, and they will find the players that have potential. If your school has players that could be something, you'll get some attention.
Teams aren't going to invest a million dollars in one year just on scouting and then not look at all the potential players.
Maryland an Pennstate are to close for the University of Delaware to get and natonal attention or a lot of good prospects.
Ummmmmm pee wee school are exciting to watch, Have you heard of Gorge Mason Western Kentucky University Appalachian state Davidson I can go on if you want. Small schools are fun to watch,
I know but when I was talking about UNCW and UD I was talking about college basketball. Plus division 2 football is exciting. You just need to watch it
Recent UD grad here. I think one of the biggest problems with the school is they are too busy trying to become an Ivy League school.
They're a good school but the tuition has gone up. I think they're trying to keep out more riff raff and make it more of a school about an education than it is about a school that parties. It has really become too big for the surrounding area. In my time living in this state I have seen it boom and the Newark/Wilmington area (more specifically Newark) has really gotten too big for its britches. It is absolutely insane when school is in session in comparison to when it is not. All the out of towners really grate my nerves. It's kinda hard to explain....
UD is the only thing keeping Newark going after the Chrysler plant closed down. I've lived in DE my whole life and about 18 years in Newark and I would say more of the problems in the town come from locals. That and people from Elkton. There are too many people around here that are just looking for trouble.
What part of DE are you in? PM if you want I would appreciate it. And I agree. Also to note I've lived in DE my whole life as well. edit: i took a tour in that chrysler plant for a school trip.
WR Aaron Love will probably make a camp and TE Robbie Agnone has an outside shot at being drafted, but will definitely make a camp, but that is second hand onfo from reading research. I have never really watched them closely when watching Delaware...I did notice Agnone is huge...Boomer, Con, CK, or one of the other better draft guys may know more.
