Heres a list of FA QB's for inhouse competition and one of these names just might be on the roster if we ever start the season. Theres a few names i haven't seen mentioned here most for a good reason. Hey theres Farve lol. Name/last team/years played Todd Bouman Jaguars 11 Marc Bulger Ravens 10 Kellen Clemens Jets 5 Kerry Collins Titans 16 Todd Collins Bears 16 Brodie Croyle Chiefs 5 Trent Edwards Jaguars 4 Brett Favre Vikings 20 Charlie Frye Raiders 6 Bruce Gradkowski Raiders 4 Rex Grossman Redskins 8 Matt Hasselbeck Seahawks 12 Tarvaris Jackson Vikings 5 Matt Leinart Texans 5 J.P. Losman Seahawks 6 *Peyton Manning Colts 13 Matt Moore Panthers 4 J.T. O'Sullivan Raiders 8 Chad Pennington Dolphins 11 Patrick Ramsey Vikings 8 Chris Simms Titans 8 Alex Smith 49ers 6 Troy Smith 49ers 4 Jim Sorgi Giants 7 Brian St. Pierre Panthers 7 Drew Stanton Lions 4 Tyler Thigpen Dolphins 4 *Michael Vick Eagles 8 Billy Volek Chargers 11
I would love either of these as 3rd option developmental prospect. Would already a few yrs closer to polished and still not there so cheap!
To me he makes sense for the Eagles if they trade Kolb. Bleak list, a GM would have to burn the midnight oil to find someone who can contribute listed. Think Gradkowski, Jackson, Moore, Thiggy and Stanton are the best #2 types of an underwhelming bunch.
Really if you added Henne to that list and asked other fans to pick someone they want on their team, a lot of them wouldn't want him either. Kind of rough but there are a lot of guys that have shown something at some point but can't play consistently enough to win a job outright.
The only one I think that could compete for a l/t job outright is Travaris Jackson. He didnt exactly suck, but didnt light it on fire but was young and Minn wanted SB and thought favre was the piece that took them there. So then they had burned the Jackson bridge. He is a case for change of scenery creating a benefit. Doesnt mean he will or that I think he will but he is the one that would give me some intrigue.
Looking at that list, the only one that I would be scared of is Marc Bulger. I would rather trade for Kyle Orton, then sign any of those bums. If we're talking about starters, if we're talking about backup's, there are a couple on there I'd be interested in.
Hmm, I overlooked Rex Grossman, he could probably start in the NFL and lead a team to a winning season, or rather would have the highest probability of doing so among the names listed, but do agree if they want to put the Qb question to bed Kyle Orton should be acquired, if they want the uncertainty then stick with Chad Henne. Could live with Marc Bulger, see some Trent Green in such a move, a sort of half step that doesn't really please anyone.
I think not taking anyone in the draft was a big mistake. We currently have 1 QB on our roster. I think we are going to try to sign Young but whoever we sign we will still need to sign one more. Maybe bring back Thigpen?
Eh, couldn't see both Young and Thiggy coming in, not impossible, but not really likely imho. As for V Young, what people don't think/talk about with him is "if' they want to generate excitement Young would be the guy.
No telling who the 3rd guy would be, suspect that they will want a "oh crap!!" Veteran in that role. But then again, Parcells very nearly ran Romo out of Dallas so who knows with this crew?
Yeah he is still around, but like Thiggy have not heard of any participation in Henne's offseason workout stuff.
