I don’t know, every time Buffalo passes on an offensive lineman or a legitimate quarterback, I say the same thing about them.
If u don't know about Webb wich 90% of u don't. You won't unserstand the trade. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
LOL, the same "weak link" that filled in so well at RT that Chicago will be moving him to LT this season? Yea same guy.
That's not where I am hearing over in Iowa. I am hearing that he was one of the few bright spots on the Bears offense line.
10 sacks given up and 6 penalties sounds like he filled in well? I took that quote from an article praising Webbs "leap" as a rookie.
Knox either hits a homerun or strikes out, he was very close to 1,000 yards still had 6TD's, he also is a nice threat at KR. He will stretch the left side of the Defense with Maclin on the other, and my lil 5"8 white assasin will roam the underneath.
Im not saying hes not going to be a good LT in the future. But hes not that right now for sure. and you gave up the best tackle in the game. its your team...but i wouldnt have done it.
Pretty sure most those sacks came early on in the season and especially during the Bears/Giants game. If I remember that's the game where he first came in (not started, but played a majority of the game).
I understand some teams will find the move odd, Im okay with that...I know what it takes to win this league, you gotta win the crowd. I did that last year, this year I want to build a team of young cheap players who can perform, I have 3 1st RD picks so im far from done. I dont feel I have any GLARING needs at this point so I can continue my youth movement and hopefully have a good draft.
Bears OL got better as the season went on. and their running game picked up quite a bit with Webb inserted in the line up. Theres no doubt he got better as the season went on. But like I said, the quote where they said he was still a weak link on the line was from a article PRAISING Webb. Im just saying, when you say something like "If u don't know about Webb wich 90% of u don't. You won't unserstand the trade. " its going to get some opinions on it. My best friend is a bears fan and i watched almost every Bears game last season. I know a lot about Webb. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/7390803.html
I didnt mean he was Jake Long, I meant alot of people would see the name and just assume it was a fill in, when in reality he is a young up and coming OT. He played alot better than a certain top 20 pick last year that people couldnt wait to give up 1st Rd picks for. I thought long (no pun) and hard about the trade and it fits my philosophy while saving me 9.5M in salary.
With all due respect. I live with a Bears fan. I am SURROUNDED by Bears fans... You can't tell me the "well my friend is a Bears fan sooo" theory because I am surrounded by them.
I'm pretty familiar with him. I don't think he's a bad player, he's got a lot of talent but you get didn't get enough back IMO. Its hard to read into rookie statistics especially at that position because they are so young. They usually take a couple years.
I understand what ur saying Alen but my thinking was Hartline/late 4 for Knox was "fair" So it came down to Long and another late 4 for Webb, late 1st rd, and 9.5M in salary, I realized it wasnt going to be popular around here but like I said before Im only trying to please ME this year.
I understand. We just have different values of players. I thought you could have gotten a lot more but if you are happy then that's all that matters.
I think there's a possible misconception around the league. That trading cap space somehow makes up for a perceived lopsided trade. With respect to Jake Long, answer just this one question... is he worth $10mill per season in this league? If you answered no, answer this one... How much do you think he'd net in free agency in this here league? If you answered less than $10mill, take your fist and punch yourself in the mouth. No offense Fino...
and that means what? i didnt say my opinion mattered more then yours. What I said was I watched majority of games this year, so the whole "you wont understand the trade if you dont know webb", doesnt work with me, cuz i dont understand it and i know plenty of webb.
I didnt move Jake because I thought he was too expensive, I brought up the 9.5M I saved because that becomes part of the "return" I will recieve. So really, my return in full is TBD.
I just phoned Webb and he said he is ready to flatten WHOEVER your DE is. Now you have pissed him off.
well, I've said it before and I'll say it again... trades are usually judged in a vacuum... we don't see all the moves until the end. You had a reason to move him, if you're happy then that is all that really matters. I'd like to take this opportunity to remind a few teams that need a safety to contact me. And Thank You...
Webb, Jake, left tackles blah, blah , blah. Johnny Knox, receivers, blah, blah, blah The Texans finally got a punter. Let's focus on the important things
Us Bears were sorry to lose Webb. We felt that he would be a force on our line for years to come which is why we didn't give him up easily. We had trouble keeping Jay off his *** last year and this move should really help there. I saw this trade as a win win for both teams since Fin did get our first round pick as well as a quality young tackle.
