2 things right off the bat show this table doesn't belong to a pool player, #1, the decal, lol, actually those pool table images are distracting and can alter how you see the ball,
#2, that table is in a room that is too small for the table.
I have some of that "best advice you can get" advice for any potential pool table owners out there, having years of experience in pool table installation and also being an avid pool player.
Biggest, most critical, most joy killing and most common mistake, trying to fit too much table in the room;
Table Size, Minimum Room Size,
3.5' x 7' ___16' 8" x 13' 6"
4' x 8' _____17' 4" x 13' 11"
4.25' x 8.5' _17' 9" x 14' 1"
4.5' x 9' ___18' 4" x 14' 6"
Treat this as an "absolute" minimum room size, and you'll be fine, DO NOT BE AFRAID OF BUYING A 7 FOOT TABLE!
I can't stress that point enough, people who want to buy quality often make the mistake of equating "regulation size" with "quality", and it's completely false, e.g. an Olhausen 9' Augusta has the exact same wood and construction as the 7' Augusta, they are identical except for dimensions.
Some people also think that the company will treat it as "only a 7'" table, and I can promise you that isn't the case, to us, a table is a table, they all go together the same way.
If it is a man cave thing, you do want some cave in there too, nothing, and I do mean nothing, eats up space in a room like a pool table, so lets say you have the minimum size room for an 8' table, you should still put a 7' table there just to have some room to move around.
If you are an entry level player, I would suggest a 7' table if even you had room for two 9' tables, because unless you're playing with good pool players games on 9' tables are long, sloppy and boring, instead of "regulation" size they should call it "expert" size imo.
I've played in many league games in many places, the vast majority of the time I'm playing on 7' tables, the vast majority of bars have 7' tables so it stands to reason, lol.
The 7' table is the perfect man cave size because games go quicker regardless of skill level, people have more fun because they pocket more balls, and if fun is the point of the table...
Decorating your table, Dolphins aqua is a very good color for the cloth, sky blue is the best for your eyes, but any similar blue/green colors are good, avoid bright colors, logos and bright reds all look fantastic but can strain your eyes and give you headaches.
There are Dolphin ball sets, cues, racks and anything else to stamp your table as a Dolphin table without actually putting a Dolphin stamp on the table, and like I said, Dolphin aqua is an excellent choice for the cloth.
Also, spend the extra money on cloth over felt, it plays better and is A LOT more durable.
