EDDS INJURES KNEE Rookie linebacker A.J. Edds had an ice pack on one of his knees Monday, and the Dolphins fear that the injury is serious. The Dolphins had hoped Edds would play in passing situations this season. His injury leaves the team with five healthy inside linebackers -- Karlos Dansby, Channing Crowder, Tim Dobbins, Austin Spitler and J.D. Folsom. Damn!!!!! hope its not too serious! We could always use in ILB with good coverage skills! Heres to a speedy recovery!
Shame - I had high hope for Edds, hope it itsn't too bad. If it is serious then at least we have some depth at the position - losing your 4th ILB who is also a rookie isnt the end of the world.
this sucks. really it does. Spitler better shape up (hasnt he been sick) at least we are deep there.....i just pray this isnt the flood gates opening.
I'm not a huge fan of his but he wouldve helped on passing situations. Hopefully its not too serious.
i think Edds is going to mean more to this LB corps than some folks think -- maybe not this year, but in the future - so i hope his injury isn't serious ...
Typical Dolphins luck. <SIGH> Oh well lets move on and at least it happened early and we have time to make moves to recover from this.
Uggh just when I was hoping we could get Crowder off the field in passing situations they say the Dolphins seem to think it is serious but don't elaborate...wtf
A.J. Edds believes he tore his ACL in Monday night's practice. We're still waiting on official word from the team, but it appears Edds' rookie season is over before it really began. The fourth-round pick was making a transition from inside to outside linebacker, where he was to back up Karlos Dansby.
Crowder is the starter & has earned the position playing along side of Dansby he should have a banner year shame about Ebb fortunately it was not Crowder
Thing is Crowder sucks in coverage. Edds was brought here by design to be the nickel linebacker. That could have made us better in passing situations. Now it is status quo with channing. Puts more pressure on that FS you worry so much about.
he is out for the season, if true, will make a full recovery by this time next year...cool photos by the way Rick
This is bad news. We needed a solid LB who can cover, and Edds would have provided that in my opinion...
It's being confirmed that it's a torn ACL now. http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...hins-lose-rookie-a-j-edds-for-the-season.html Shades of fellow Iowa LB Chad Greenway.
Yeah, thats a big blow. He is no slouch pick as a 4th rounder and has strong upside. I saw his interview a couple of days ago and he seems to have a good head on his shoulders, I was looking forward to seeing him on the field. You're right Killerphins, Crowder stinks in coverage.
This hurts because the guy was a tall coverage specialist. Fortunately, we got more athletic overall at linebacker. The situation is not as dire as it would have been last year. Crowder has been a weak link here in the past. But reports are that he's been decent thus far in camp. And he looked to have lost a little around the belly when I saw him Saturday.
Crap!! I am really getting sick of these injuries. This cannot continue to happen. If we can't stay healthy, we're done in our division before the season even starts.
One thing that might need reminding.... This is one injury. So far we are down a rookie reserve linebacker. That's it. It sucks but lets not go too far off the deep end just yet. This stuff happens to every team, every year. We're not alone.
It's not the injuries at camp that get me frustrated, it's the injuries in the first week of camp that get me frustrated, I am been around long enough to know when a team starts getting bit early by the injury bug that bug tends to stick around for awhile, a lot of times up to the last day of camp.
a rookie reserve linebacker that this FO targeted and had big plans for thought that was important to mention
