So a few hours ago, I got a call from a representative from a company called Vector, they said my step sister had recommended me which is weird because she never mentioned anything like this to me. And she knows that I am intrested in the medical field, not sales. The rep asks me some basic information, my last name and email address(I didnt give them my SSN or anything that important) and where in Miami-Dade county I lived. I then ask her wat Vector does that I'd describe and sell products to people, that I'd get payed $15.00 an hour and that they offer flexible hours for college students. It sounds alot like telemarketing, and she was obviously trying to sell me on it. But this seems very shady, and I am worried how they were able to name drop my sister. She is 19 and has only been in college a year; she seems to fall in their "target range"(out of highschool, looking for a part time job) So has anyone heard of this place or has any experience dealing with these people?
Yes its a scam. I interviewed with them like 10 years ago and walked out of the interview after like 10 minutes. Its BS. I dont remember the particulars but do remember leaving and the shocked look on the interviewers face when I asked her what kind of poop is this...not quite so nicely of course. Waste of time.
OK I did some more research and yes they are without a doubt a scam. They wanted me to come in for an interview, I told them to **** off.
I could've swore they were the ones who did CutCo knives or whatever. I went to an informational session when I was a SR in High School (interviews likely followed the session), and walked out halfway through much like Boik.
How ironic! I received a letter in the mail from Vector Marketing this month telling me to call in for an interview. They seemed legit. I was looking forward to working with them but I think I'll take Boik's advice here.
Absolutely a scam. A buddy of mine about 10 years back was fooled long enough into actually working for them for a half day. That's all he lasted. One of those rha rha door to door sales chop shop gigs. They'll send you to terrible neighborhoods trying to get people to switch their phone service and other **** like that.
All of those jobs that are about "cash 4 students" and what not are absolute scams. Often you pay for your own training, and you really won't make money. Stay far away from things like that.
