I think Miami has to take a hard look at some vet offensive linemen, including Nick Mangold, Cyrus Kouandjio., and Orlando Franklin. They have a better shot at making the roster than some of the other players that will come to camp. There are depth issues that have to be addressed, esp on this line. In addition, I think we need to bring Revis in for a look. Again, depth issues. I know I will get backlash for this, but injuries happen, and we need depth. There are Jets/Tannenbaum connections here too.

Franklin has been playing terrible the last couple of years. He wouldn't be much if at all better than what we have with bushrod and larsen.
Revis could be an intriguing option if he moves to free safety.
At this point all free agents available are castoffs with injury or performance concerns. For cheap I would take a chance on some of them.

Revis is not Revis anymore. Guys get old, sometimes faster then you would think.
Pass.
Only one of those I'd have interest in is Mangold. I think he's got a good year or two left in him.
I just don't see Pouncey making an entire season and I wasn't too impressed with our subs last year.firedan likes this. -
Some guys fade quickly and some guys get traded to teams in which the scheme is not a good fit. When Franklin played for Denver he had 3 really good years. Gase was the OC for 2 of those years. I think if Gase wanted him he would push for him. I heard the offer the Dolphins gave was really low. So, I'd think that Gase isn't overly impressed with him.

Sign Revis and have him at safety or as backup safety. Would he be FS or SS? Never really understood the difference to be honest.

SS should be thumpers, and FS should be ball hawks. :loser:
In an ideal world, both are both, and one would just line up on the "Strong" (TE)side of the offense. -
The difference between the two positions is fading. In years last you'd have a distinct difference, now not so much. In many ways it mirrors how the difference between right and left tackle has also been mitigated.
Really in today's NFL you're looking for guys who can cover moreso than being huge hitters. You don't want wimps back there but given the emphasis on the passing game you'd lean more towards that than looking for in the box bangers. Those types of safeties are more often than being given time as nickel backers and such as defenses want more versatility rather than isolated skill sets that don't cross over.
That's why a guy like Jabril Peppers was highly sought after by a good number of teams: versatility.Dol-Fan Dupree, Fin D and danmarino like this. -

Seriously, you're not making any sense. "Patrolling" and "security" aren't traits which, mean they have literally nothing to do with my question. And again, the question wasn't asked of you. Had I asked a question of you, it wouldn't be football related as your opinion of football related matters has proven to be as useful English lit degree. -
No instincts means you'll run yourself out of plays as opposed to guys who have instincts who are already a step ahead to begin with. -
