Figured it might be interesting to do a slight variant of the poll I started the other day, given the footage we saw of Vontae on Hard Knocks tonight. Please vote only if you've seen the footage.
I think he is going to continue to be a very good CB in this league. He has the talent, and he isn't unstable like a Ryan Leaf or something.
He's like a kid... I haven't seen many people like him personally. I don't think he'll ever "get it" in a sense where he will be as good as he could be... I think he will likely have a solid 10 year career and that's not necessarily a failure in any sense. However I think he has the ability to be great but I don't believe he will make the most out of that potential. However his immaturity (not trying to use that on a knock on him, it's just who he is) isn't a surprise to me. He's been like this since he came to Miami. I know people will point out to his brother as some sort of proof that he will get it but they don't seem to have a similar personality... which many brothers do not anyway. He's not a bad guy by any stretch but just seems like a kid in a man's body honestly.
So far the vote is the opposite from the last poll. In the last poll, the majority thought he'd mature on his own, and the minority thought he'd never mature. After Hard Knocks, the opposite is true.
I think it takes a form of intelligence to understand the importance of science as it relates to training the body at high levels..
I think he plays good but i don't see him pushing himself to the next level. Maybe this will give him a reason. Depends on what grandma tells him.
