any of you know why vontae was tellin the home fans to be quiet after his pick 6. he put a finger up to his face mask as if tellin them to be quiet, but we were home. when asked about it after the game in the locker room interview he chuckled and said u aint seen that before and that was it. was he quieting his critics who said his ego was to big to be an impact in the NFL? was it to the haters who said he was a waste and a first rounder couldnt even beat out a 2nd rounder(sean smith) for the startin job? what do ya'll think
Actually Cam Wake called him out on that one a bit at the weekly TD Club luncheon, Davis said he was doing that to quite the doubters about our selection of him and to quite the Bills fans in the crowd, Wake then said "All three of them"? which was a pretty funny line and Mandich also said he was full o' bull and that he had tapped danced around giving an honest answer.. Eh, to me he was more doing that because the Bills were "silenced" by his TD.
true, you'd figure he'd do that at an away game though. if I was a rookie CB with the swag of vontae my *** would be runnin around maybe a Dolphin leap??? lol sucks our guys cant do that cause of the dug out seats they got
It's just a celebration. Like Mutumbo waving his finger etc. Like "oh quit cheering" as if he was modest. Kinda like how sometimes someone gets a sack then walks off fast as if they were leaving "Umm I didn't do anything"
I think he intercepted a ball and ran it back for a touchdown and just did whatever came to him. Imagine the adrenaline, I'm sure it wasn't premeditated.
i noticed him shooshing the fans at the time. i figure he probably wasnt ready for a td celebration and just did the first thing to pop in his head. its not like he ran to the wrong endzone. he did everything right on that play. he can celebrate however he likes, as long as it doesnt cost the team.
he can celebrate however he wants but I dont want a cornerback who's douchebag to the fans or his ego's so big he becomes a T.O or somethin
I could care less what gestures he makes after a big play. As long as he keeps making big plays. Worrying about a simple gesture after a play is what kids gossip about during recess. So who cares besides them.
Vontae has done everything right since he's come here that I can recall. I don't see any reason too worry, we wouldn't have drafted him otherwise
I tend to agree. I think the "Shhhh" has become the default scoring gesture in all levels of football. It becomes instinct. Like old people taking their foot off the gas after completing a left hand turn. And as such, he just did it without even thinking.
vontae does love runnin his mouth and he a shut down corner. id love a deion sanders CB. he loved the fans and always and still does give back to the community
After the game some reporter asked him about it, and he said something like "That's just 'you never seen that' "...I take that as him just messing around, being cocky, saying "damn, yeah that happened, but don't tell the Bills/the rest of the league." Or "don't get too excited quite yet, I'm just getting started" kind of thing... Could be telling everyone who has been critical of his brother, and said he'd be the exact same way/a headcase/a troublemaker, etc. as well... ...a lot of people seem to think he's crazy/not-too-bright (mainly because of his voice I'm thinking haha), but I think he's smarter than we think. He had one of the highest Wonderlic scores (like 33 I think) coming out...and a few times in interviews he has mentioned specific things he saw on film and then got to react to them when he saw the exact same thing on the field (even mentioned it on his pick-6, after the game). Never heard Jason Allen talk about breaking down game film...
Vontae needs to show better form. When he runs his pick-6 in Monday Night, I fully expect to see improvement.
Ehh. I viewed it more as a quick reaction without thought. That's a normal celebration for a defensive touchdown, albeit usually on the road, lol. However, if he was silencing those of you who stay seated while were on defense yet start the wave while were on offense in a crucial drive, then fine. Posted via Mobile Device
I 'd like to say it was him shooshng his doubters, but I think he just forgot where he was. What can you do, hes a kid....
I think this is it. "maybe if i'm kept quiet people will keep throwing my way. now you guys know i can do it so "shhhhhhhhh"
I saw on NFL primetime or whichever show, there were actually 2-3 other players that did the same thing to their home crowds. Very strange trend to be starting.
i think the real question here is "who gives a ****" . Its a small gesture. If he gets out of control sparano will slap his *** down.
Smith & Davis will start before the end of the season if they have a good game agsinst the jests wouldn't be surprised to see both tin the starting line up for game six
Anyone notice he did the T.O. with his arms when he knocked the ball away from Owens in the end-zone.
Sean Smith and will allen both did it as well. Smith did it during the bill's first series, i think the other guys just followed his lead.
I don't see it. Will Allen is still the best Cb on the team. Those two are the future for sure but Allen is the savy vet...
Odd. Kinda like "art" huh? We see what we bring to it. I immediately took it as "don't tell anyone, look what I just got".
seans been doin that since preseason, kinda like sayin nu-uh not happenin on my side he crosses his arms first then throws them out
Not yet smith has also been burnt before. there still adjusting to NFL speed. they'll get better with time. few more games and I dont think you'll see to much of that
Just a celebration. I'm pretty sure he wasn't telling Dolphins fans to shutup. Prolly just got caught up in the motion and that was the best celebration that came to mind. Silence your critics and all that. Man makes a pick-6 and we ride him for his celebration. Sheesh.
