There comes a time in a fans life, where you have to stop…..wait for it…..inhale….and smell the dog s—t !!! And that’s what has happened today, as I looked at “thephins.com” front page….the picture under the title “almost famous” is a picture of Fasano and Camarillo……I see camarillo and I think “wow, juan huron did make it in the nfl”…..the guys arms are the size of a bic pen….now I know some will say “who cares, hes a wide out”……dude, guys look small on tv around all those big dudes, look at dwayne wade….he looks small on tv….but hes 6’4 200+….
There is WR’s on other teams that look small, but are jacked, thick arms…..big calves, speed, agility…..all of our wide outs….have none of that…..(well speed and agility) but not enough to get open obviously…. Why is this a big deal!??! They get squashed by the equally small DBs…..
And then the names….sure Camarillo has worked hard…..but jesus, our wide outs……Ted Ginn, Greg Camarillo, Derek Hagan, London, and wilford……..the only “name” on that list was inactive for Sunday
We need some wide outs….guys that get seperation, guys that can fly down the seam and make a catch, guys that can take a jab at the LOS and push it off and still make his route, it’s a cycle, wide outs get seperation, quaterback can release the ball quicker, the line doesn’t have to hold the blocks as long….and we have a coehiseve offense. Bingo! Big priorty in my opinion….we need some Wrs or our offense wont take off this year…..there is a reason our tight end was the leading reciever….he was the only body getting open……
Sure, this is something we already knew, but my homerism made me think "well maybe they can be under the radar"........
no.
this team needs playmaker wideouts, and fast.....or else its mediocre-city all over again. of course this is my opinion....thoughts?

I'd be happy with mediocre. Its the whole, suck city repeat that I am worried about.
-
It took you this long to figure that out??? :tongue2:
Phil Simms said it best on WFAN yesterday, our WR's never got separation from the Jets Corners, that says it all.funkdat and CrunchTime like this. -
we need someone that will catch a 5 yard pass, stiff arm a CB and take it to the house.....we need that bad!:hi5: -
We knew the receivers were going to be bad this year. As much as you try to tell yourself that your team is rebuilding, that theres gonna be some bumps in the road and growing pains, it still hurts like hell to see them struggle.
Our priority one should be an elite WR this offseason whether its via the draft, trade or FA. But let's keep in mind its not the only priority... rebuilding sucks... -

lol mark ingram......i mean seriously?!?!? marino made those guys "good"....we need a dominate wideout....and fast to build with imo -

crap line, crap qb, crap wr = crap team!!!!!
its insanley smart!!!
haha, but seriously......stay OT our Wr's need to get better, they can make a mediocre qb and make him "good-ish" :knucks: -
do you realize how young our receivers are? Ginn, Hagan, Camarillo, Bess, London...how much experience do any of them have? You gotta give these guys time with the coaching staff to get better, simple as that.
-
90% of those guys will be no more than decent WR's in this league....i mean its my opinion, and i hope they prove me wrong....i am high on bess (i didnt put him in that speal in the original post) but playmaker GREAT recievers make strides their 2nd and 3rd year (hagan, ginn) they just arent getting off the line and seperating themselves from the Defense! imo -

I don't think anyone would be against the idea of getting a dominant receiver, but who is out there? Anquan Boldin is the only good one that is semi available, and I am not willing to give up what Arizona will want.
Besides, you know if he comes here he will bite the big one. But is there anyone else? Boldin appears to be the only legit option if you are looking to add credible firepower to the wideout corps. -
My problem is just that, they are all young, not a seasoned vet for them to talk to and lean on for information. You will most likely say that's what the coaches are for, but nothing is better than talking to a vet that has been through years in the league for there take on things.SICK likes this. -
They say it's usually in the 3rd yr, but, I'm betting that doesn't take into account being in 3 different offenses in 3 yrs. Also, that 3 yr time frame probably involves having a lot of playing-time the whole 3 yrs.
Considering this is only the first real game that they've all played together, it's certainly not unreasonable to think they'll all start looking better over time, hopefully, by the 4th week. -
-
different offenses doesnt change the type of player they are on the field! -
On a side note, looking at the Cowboys WRs, they are, I'm assuming, what we'll eventually look like...larger/stronger, so who knows, our present WRs may not, in fact, be the ones we'll have in a few years when we make our run in the playoffs. -
I guess I'm in the minority on this, but I'm not ready to crap all over our receivers...yet.
I think we have to give some credit to the Jets D, as much as I hate to do that. Sure we don't have the best receivers, but I think the Jets secondary really did a phenomenal job. Let's see how they do with Randy Moss and Wes Welker next week and we might have a better view of whether it's our receivers being bad, or the Jets secondary being really good. I have a feeling it might be a little of both.
Our receivers will get better as the season progresses. But this is a very valid concern. Makes me wonder what could have possibly been wrong with Terry Glenn that we didn't sign him.Puka-head likes this. -

Eddie Royals debut last night further added fuel to my fire. The Broncs were sending him in motuion, moving him arund, giving him a chance to get open. And what'd he do? He toasted a secondary consisting of Deangelo Hall, Mike Huff, Gibril Wilson, and Asomogha(sp*). He's a lil talented speedster, he made it happen. we obviously need to get Bess more involved because he's probably our best wide out, and give him an opportunity to get open.
That said, i think after this week, we need to get Boldin in here. The guy is exactly what we need. Give up our 2 seconds for him. The guy is huge and physical...and most importantly, he's a REAL WR. He's young and class act pro. He'll improve every facet of our offense. you just don't see an anquan boldin every year in the draft. and there's nothing wrong with getting a little better sooner than later. -

I hear you on the AJ Feeley stuff, I just have this morbidly bad feeling that we'd get Boldin for two 2nd's and he'd get injured or wither away on a bad team. Guess you could say Im a little gun shy given our past history. -

Boldin would have been nice had we got him when we had the chance.
I agree about not giving up the draft picks however, we are in the middle of a rebuild and we need more draft picks not fewer. Squandering our draft picks and not bringing in young players to build on has gotten us in the sad shape we are in now.
With the apparent success that this group has had with the first draft, who's to say how good the players could be in the second round of the next draft.
It didn't seem to make much difference what the previous staffs did with the draft picks cause they didn't seem to know what to do with them in the first place. This group seems to know what to do with those picks and I would like to see who they get. Not only that but these two second rounders could be high second rounders. -
OT- sucks about your adopted son :pity:Big E likes this. -
Every year we should look at what our biggest needs are and try to replenish them. This is only the first year and we had too many holes to fix in one offseason. IMO WR, MLB, and maybe CB will be addressed very soon. Always looking to find a gem in other spots as well.HardKoreXXX likes this. -
Yea, mediocre Wr's and the Dolphins go hand and hand.SICK likes this. -
but thanks for solidifying my point....we need game break, playmakers playing reciever for us! -
Man, I hope the lions let roy williams walk after this season since he will be a free agent, he would give us what we need a real #1 reciever.

Bess has little potential. He's a a quick, slot receiver who has good hands. That's not potential.
Ginn Jr. and Hagan have potential. The rest have major physical flaws.
Hagan should start. He always get separation and a drop is not nearly as bad as leaving your QB high and dry all day.
