god we arent even mediocre....even when we (in phin fans eyes) had "good" wr's it was orande gadson, and oj mcduffie.........

We knew the receivers were going to be bad this year. As much as you try to tell yourself that your team is rebuilding, that theres gonna be some bumps in the road and growing pains, it still hurts like hell to see them struggle.

Our priority one should be an elite WR this offseason whether its via the draft, trade or FA. But let's keep in mind its not the only priority... rebuilding sucks...

no....we have had S--tty WR's for a long time bro.....darrius thompson? david boston? seriously.....chambers was our last "good" i emphasize "GOOD" (dont kill me travis) in a long time....sense what the marks brothers?

do you realize how young our receivers are? Ginn, Hagan, Camarillo, Bess, London...how much experience do any of them have? You gotta give these guys time with the coaching staff to get better, simple as that.

no bro.....there is a difference between "young/promise" and "young/decent"

90% of those guys will be no more than decent WR's in this league....i mean its my opinion, and i hope they prove me wrong....i am high on bess (i didnt put him in that speal in the original post) but playmaker GREAT recievers make strides their 2nd and 3rd year (hagan, ginn) they just arent getting off the line and seperating themselves from the Defense! imo

I don't think anyone would be against the idea of getting a dominant receiver, but who is out there? Anquan Boldin is the only good one that is semi available, and I am not willing to give up what Arizona will want.

Besides, you know if he comes here he will bite the big one. But is there anyone else? Boldin appears to be the only legit option if you are looking to add credible firepower to the wideout corps.

My problem is just that, they are all young, not a seasoned vet for them to talk to and lean on for information. You will most likely say that's what the coaches are for, but nothing is better than talking to a vet that has been through years in the league for there take on things.

They say it's usually in the 3rd yr, but, I'm betting that doesn't take into account being in 3 different offenses in 3 yrs. Also, that 3 yr time frame probably involves having a lot of playing-time the whole 3 yrs.

Considering this is only the first real game that they've all played together, it's certainly not unreasonable to think they'll all start looking better over time, hopefully, by the 4th week.

this was a we should/and should HAVE....done post.....i mean there was plenty of options throughout the years.....i know thats done and over with....but i was reffering more to its something we MUST address this offseason through FA, draft, trade etc...

i hope so, i really do.....but im not optomistic....there hasnt been any break out qualities imo.....

different offenses doesnt change the type of player they are on the field!

Yes and no. If they're having to think too much about their route, defense, setting up the CB, their technique, etc...I can certainly see where they're not exactly functioning at their best.

On a side note, looking at the Cowboys WRs, they are, I'm assuming, what we'll eventually look like...larger/stronger, so who knows, our present WRs may not, in fact, be the ones we'll have in a few years when we make our run in the playoffs.

I guess I'm in the minority on this, but I'm not ready to crap all over our receivers...yet.

I think we have to give some credit to the Jets D, as much as I hate to do that. Sure we don't have the best receivers, but I think the Jets secondary really did a phenomenal job. Let's see how they do with Randy Moss and Wes Welker next week and we might have a better view of whether it's our receivers being bad, or the Jets secondary being really good. I have a feeling it might be a little of both.

Our receivers will get better as the season progresses. But this is a very valid concern. Makes me wonder what could have possibly been wrong with Terry Glenn that we didn't sign him.

Eddie Royals debut last night further added fuel to my fire. The Broncs were sending him in motuion, moving him arund, giving him a chance to get open. And what'd he do? He toasted a secondary consisting of Deangelo Hall, Mike Huff, Gibril Wilson, and Asomogha(sp*). He's a lil talented speedster, he made it happen. we obviously need to get Bess more involved because he's probably our best wide out, and give him an opportunity to get open.
That said, i think after this week, we need to get Boldin in here. The guy is exactly what we need. Give up our 2 seconds for him. The guy is huge and physical...and most importantly, he's a REAL WR. He's young and class act pro. He'll improve every facet of our offense. you just don't see an anquan boldin every year in the draft. and there's nothing wrong with getting a little better sooner than later.

I love Boldin, but Im through giving up 2nd round picks. Id rather take my lumps for another couple years and rebuild through the draft. What we SHOULD have been doing the last 8 years.
