Miami Dolphins linebacker
Cameron Wake's
unhappiness with his contract hasn't dissipated, but after a one-on-one conversation with new
Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin, the disgruntled pass-rusher has joined his teammates for voluntary offseason conditioning and workouts.
As reported by Armando Salguero for the
Miami Herald, nothing is imminent regarding a contract extension, but it would seem that Philbin was able to convince Wake that it was in his best interest to join his teammates.
This speaks well for both Wake and Philbin.
On Wake's part, its impressive that he went in to speak with Philbin in the first place. So many guys take the "my agent handles that" attitude when it comes to their business dealings with the team, which tends to freeze them out from their teammates and coaches in the process.
From Salguero's report, Wake's agent Paul Sheehy spoke to this:
Cameron felt like he had to go in to speak with Joe Philbin face to face, man to man, out of respect to him as a new coach. They spoke, and Cameron decided to work with his teammates during this voluntary period, while I work on the business side of things with the Dolphins.
