Sad but it appears cameron wakes dominant days are behind him.Everybody wants to blame suh but what is he supposed to do when the ends can't beat one on one blocking.
Wake just doesn't seem to have that burst to get around the tackle anymore. This team has no ends or linebackers and it looks like a total rebuild effort is going to be needed in the next couple of drafts.
We might want to explore his trade value since this team is going nowhere.

Firstly, let's acknowledge the fact he's dealing with some sort of injury.
That said, he's not the elite guy he once appeared to be 3-4 seasons ago. However, the time to trade Wake was 2-3 seasons ago when he was coming off good years but was sure to decline. At this point, he's been in decline for a couple years and is now consistently out-matched (again, injuries play a role). With Jared Allen being traded to the Panthers for a 6th round pick, I don't think Wake is of much value. Quite frankly, Jared Allen has been more productive than Wake anyway.
If it were up to me, I'd have looked for trade options 2 years ago in hopes of getting a 2nd or 3rd round pick. At this point, he's not worth much of anything. I'd say, at best Miami might magically get a 4th or 5th rounder if a good team was desperate.
If losing Wake worth a late-rounder? Probably not but at this point I'm not sure it matters. Wake or no Wake this defense isn't very good. -

If I had to guess, I'd say the market is dry. -
Like you, I think the time to trade him was a few years ago, but hindsight is always 100% correct. -
He's not generating pressure. He's not helping on run plays. He's just... there.
I'm sure that hamstring injury isnt helping.
I'm sure Coyle dropping him in to coverage doesnt help
I'm sure that him being on the bench alot for the backups doesnt help much either. -
He's hurt.
I don't know why people are jumping to declare him in any sort of decline other than to act like they've some sort of personnel acumen.
Which is funny, because I'd tend to think that very thing would cause you to pump the breaks a bit on bold declarations.EverFin, Tin Indian and djphinfan like this. -
He has been the best player on this defense for the past five years. The fact is though, he is just a few months shy of 34 years old and he has been dealing with injuries since last year. This doesn't take away from how great he was. It merely reminds us all that even the best players eventually age and injuries catch up with them.
Most players start to decline once injuries become an issue for them. That seems to be the case with Wake, whether you are willing to accept it or not.DolphinGreg and Piston Honda like this. -
He is (should be) a situational pass rusher when healthy AKA the end of the JT days.

We don't need to trade him, he just needs a reduced role. Keep him around and groom his replacement when you draft him. It's a shame what happened with Dion Jordan. I thought he'd eventually be the guy Wake would pass the torch to.

Hes finished. Got to trade him, we're going to cut him anyways but if you can get a 6th for him then do it. Thing is with Hickey and Philbin all on the hotseat i dont think they care to make moves for a future theyre not part of.

What we're seeing is certainly not a sudden, sharp change in production. Cam Wake has been pretty average for the last couple of years. At this point injuries (or mere age) has him flirting with below-average kind of production.
No one who's been watching for the last 5 years has all of a sudden changed their minds on Wake. He was great 4-5 years ago and has slowly declined. There's no mystery and no one should feel they have to defend their stance of him being replaceable at this point.jw3102 likes this. -
Seriously you guys are racing to plant a flag on his metaphorical corpse, and it's absolutely bizarre -
Wake's ability to get at the QB came from being a physical beast. In a game where athletes perform at such a high level, one who relies strictly on his physical ability can't afford to "lose a step". Wake is getting older and because of that has lost that "step".

Should have traded his *** already when his value was high. He's done.

I'm not ready to throw the towel in on Mr Wake until we get to see him play when he is healthy. If he cant get it done after that, then we can talk.

It really shouldn't be too hard to come up with a hypothesis here.
