if you choose to believe that he was just thinking out loud and it's not something where he treats people differently then ok, him shaking his head tells me different.

This is what I think. His opinion is harmless. But Broussards opinion is harmful.

And would you say that because you were born healthy that you were blessed?

Would you say if you had a great talent that allowed you to make millions that god blessed you with that talent?

Because being a bigot in terms of sexual orientation is against the law. If you say something against being gay that is defamatory is illegal. That's why, when people say something like that they apologize for fear of being sued for doing something against the law.

No that's fine. Because discrimination against Asians ain't that big of a deal. The ACLU will not hunt you down.

However, if you said you weren't attracted to hispanic or black women then you will be labeled myopic.

That said, how in bloody hell do you not find any Asian women attractive? None? Ok might not be your #1 preference but when I see beauty, I see beauty. Be it black, hispanic, latin, Eastern European, Pacific Islander. Now, some are more beautiful than others, but there are plenty of bootyful women of every race out there.

This is a good thing, he might be the example for this discussion to get a lot more publicity than it does..the whole it's a choice argument that is..

If you believe with certainty that you can state as a fact what someone - who you've never met in your life, or hung out with in order to have an working knowledge of his mindset - is doing then O.K. as well.

You can't prove what you're saying to any degree. You may well believe it, but you can't prove anything about how he treats people.

You may not understand or agree with a friend of yours is still seeing a girl or guy who has cheated on them. But you not understanding it has nothing to do with you accepting the fact that they are still together. Nor does it inherently mean you will treat the people involved differently.

I shake my head at the idea too, a guy with another guy. I shake my head because I don't understand and it doesn't appeal to me. Much like people who drink scotch, but so what. Do you think that affects my friendships I have with gay people (men and women)? I don't have to understand why they do what they to accept them as they are. The two are not intertwined on any level, and typically being able to accept someone or something without understanding it is a matter of intelligence.

My understanding has nothing to do with it being true or untrue, or right or wrong.

you choose to swipe the ignorance under the rug, I choose to exploit it and bring it to the forefront..if he is that insensitive to others that do not have a choice, then yes, his words can be interpreted negatively with hurtful connotations.

He said he did not understand how one man can be attracted to another man. Lot of people do not understand that. I hope Mike Wallace repents by sleeping with 5-6 gay men. This way he will have a first hand knowledge of gay love, then he can tweet out his experence afterwards.

Thats an inflammatory comment, saying what Wallace said is not. I'm not singling you out, just using this as an example of what is nonsense and what is much ado about nothing.

I don't get how, you guys are equating thoughts on sexuality as the same as thoughts on race.

If you are born hetero but tomorrow you want to suck a dude off, you can. And vice versa. If you are born gay and tomorrow you want slip the banana in, you can.

Sexuality might be in your DNA, and I'm not saying it isn't, but it is still a damn choice. You can be bi and bone nobody your whole life, and be celibate. It is still a choice to engage in romantic and sexual behavior. It's an act.

If you are born black, guess what, you're going to be black no matter how hard you try (see Michael Jackson). If you are born asian, you're going to be Asian. Etc. etc.

These two are not the same so quit comparing them.

Was Anne Heche born hetero/gay/hetero? Because that's what she did. And if she stuck with it all of her life then what? Most would have said she was a closet lesbian and now came out. But she switched back. So what of her 3 years?

Again, I'm not saying people make the choice to be gay. But the choice to enter into romance and relationships is still a choice. It's not the same thing as race. Let's not conflate the two.

Completely disagree. That wasn't the conclusion I came to at all. And I didn’t see a lot of people accusing Wallace of being a bigot or homophobe, it was the tweet they responded to and each other.

I would argue with anyone here that his homophobic tweet doesn’t prove he is a homophobe. Even if they are right, I don't think they have enough evidence based on one tweet.

I have racist, sexist, ageist, homophobic thoughts, and have certainly said some of them. But no single one of them proves me racist, sexist, ageist, or homophobic anymore than Wallace's tweet proves exactly how he feels about homosexuality as a whole. Though I could logically conclude he doesn't have a problem with Lesbians considering how many beautiful women there are in the world.

I logically conclude that Wallace's tweet waa ignorant and dismissive of gay men.

Then they need self esteem, Wallace isn't responsible for that. Those individuals are. They need to take responsibility for how they feel, not Wallace.

If he's gay, fine. If he wants to announce it to the world, fine. So, if someone doesn't understand what the attraction is, as in every heterosexual in the world, what's bigotted about saying so? The bigotry and vitriol appears to be coming from one direction only.

Ah ok, we're getting somewhere. I agree with your assessment there. However the reaction some people are having here is not in agreement with your assessment. I read "douchebag", "bigot", "homophobe" among some, and that's why i commented my shock at such reaction because i did not feel that tweet warranted such extremes.

I maintain his comments were insensitive and ill-advised, but I also understand his inability to related to gay men's sexual attraction to other men. He worded this poorly, and his following tweets showed a little bit more what his original meaning was.

I guess we can all safely agree Wallace should be more careful what he tweets in the future.
