Mike Wallace needs to not type every thought in his head.

In response to NBA player Jason Collins coming out today:

He has since deleted the tweets, but once they are out there...

Team issues statement on the matter:

'Mike Wallace has apologized for his comments, and we have addressed the matter with him.
Mike’s comments do not reflect the views of the Miami Dolphins. We believe in a culture of inclusiveness and respect.'

All he said is he does not understand it, it was not like a rampage against the gay community. If Jason Collins has the right to say, I'm Gay. Mike Wallace has the right to say.. he does not get it!

I don't think his comments were that bad in the grand scheme of things. He probably shouldn't have said it, but I'm not sure the team should have made him apologize and that he gets excoriated over it. There are way more people that need to be called out on the carpet on stuff they've said and believe over this ahead of Wallace.

As i said in the other thread, IMO it doesn't look like an ill-natured comment. Just insensitive, ill-advised, and incredibly dumb thing to tweet.

Shouldn't have said that out loud but he's just expressing his preference - not trashing the guy. He may not understand the nuances but it's not like he was overly critical. Was it unwise? Yes. Is he a bad person for it? No. Not unless there is some absolute standard of judgment.

Mike Wallace needs to not type every thought in his head.

    He has no filter.

That having been said, you guys do realize, don't you, that toleration of gays is a comparatively recent thing, especially among professional jocks?

What did Broussard specifically say that was offensive or hateful?

Very disappointed to see the original thread get locked up and tossed into out of bounds.

Just a shame that on an historic day for homosexual athletes, a Miami Dolphin tossed his ignorant opinion into the conversation.

Mike Wallace has the right to say he hates (insert any group here). That doesn't mean what he says isn't offensive to a group of people.

His comments certainly fall on the mild side of offensiveness, but they were still offensive nonetheless.
