Yes, they had a fun, albeit ridiculous run against a bunch of lay-down pansie teams. But what does it get them?

As Padre and others have mentioned before, they are screwed as far as FA goes next year. Per PK at nfl.com:

The rule will restrict the final eight teams in the playoffs from signing free agents. The final four teams shall not be permitted to negotiate and sign any unrestricted free agent to a player contract except for players who acquired their status by being cut or were on the final four team when their contract expired. Playoff teams five thru eight get a break to sign one player with a salary of $4,925,000 or more and any number of players with a first-year salary of no more than $3,275,000 and an annual increase of no more than 30 percent in the following years.

There is a mechanism to permit the final eight teams to sign an unrestricted free agent for each one of their own unrestricted free agents who sign with another club as long as they don't spend more than what their own lost player received from his new club.

So no FA signings. They also only have 4 draft picks, and will be drafting at the 29th spot. This years draft order is hinged on playoff performance not record, so they are screwed big time there. And those 4 picks could go to three, if they pick up Lito Sheppards option(a 4th to Philly). But they probably won't. Nor do I think they will resign Braylon Edwards. I mean, I hope they do, I think he's a weak WR and will be way overpaid.

So they will have a hole to fill at CB, probably Wr, among other spots, and will just have their 1,2,4,6 draft picks.

I admit, they got hot. But all year long, the Jets were an average team. They pounded on easy teams, and were a 9-7 team at the end of the day. And did you hear Rex Ryan mention Kris Jenkins..."hoping he comes back, and buys into the system"? Uuhh, perhaps all is not too rosie on that front? I know Jenks has been annoyed and spoke out against his loud mouthed teammates on several occasions this year.

We shall see, but you could color me SHOCKED, if they make the play-offs or win more than 9 games next year.

They have bragging rights now don't they? They can talk now. You know that's what they do best.

Headcoach material wouldn’t want to work somewhere they’re not trusted with actual football decisions.

Not only with FA, I could see a guy like Rex possibly getting too comfortable with the talent level on his team due to a run like this. Thinking they're so close already it could impact their drafts and FA moves, similar to Wanny always thinking we were just one or two players away. I'm not saying the Jets need a complete rebuild or anything close to that but if Rex gets too complacent with what he currently has I think that's good news for the rest of the East. They were 2-4 vs. the East after all.

plus they have 4 players starting on the defensive and offensive lines that are 32 plus. All of them wont start falling apart but I can almost bet that at least one of them will start to fade.

If the Colts played like they did today back in week 16, the Jets don't even make the playoffs.

Like someone else said, what do the Jets get from this?....

Super Bowl, NO.
AFC Title, NO.
Divison Title, NO.
A ring of any kind?, NO.
A high draft pick, HELL NO.
Free Agents, LOL YEAH RIGHT!!!!

The Jets overachieved in the worst possible year to be an overachiever. They have a pathetic set of draft picks. They have no shot at signing anyone good. They will be the exact same team next year. Too bad for them, everyone else will be better.

You guys need to go over to theganggreen and see all the excuses being made.

Once again, it wasn't the Colts who beat the Jets, it was injuries....the refs....blah blah blah.

Not the fact that Manning carved up that paper tiger defense that lost HOW many games when it needed to make a stop?

Not because that "#1 rushing attack" managed only 86 yards. Oh wait! Didn't Green get injured? That HAS to be the reason.

After all, when Brown got injured it wasn't like Rickey picked up the slack or anything. :wink2:

Can you say exposed?

Let's look at what happened to the winner of the AFCE from last year. We fell, and we fell pretty hard. The Sophomore slump will hurt, they'll face a tough schedule and everyone will be gunning for them. Good luck RR yer gonna need it more than you need a visit from Jenny Craig.

Jan 25, 2010, 10:33 AM

"But we made it to the AFC Champuionship" What is the point of the playoffs again? Oh right to get to the Superbowl.

Enjoy your team's fall back to irrelevance.

Woody Johnson better hope there will be a new CBA, because in "the final league year" they are going to be screwed.

Some of the soon to be classics being posted on theganggreen.com:

I really thought Rex was going HEADHUNTING on Payton after that cheap shot. Thats all I wanted. I would have taken 3 15 yard flags just to hit that little ***** 3 more times. ****ing ***** team, finess, shotgun...cheap shot *****s
One way or another we're always getting screwed.

Whether it be calls against us in games, Revis getting SCREWED out of defensive MVP, or a primetime radio host FROM New york openly rooting against the team.

For whatever reason...Fans hate us, the league hates us and the media hates us.
you guys beat a huge underdog that was all beat up – now go f yourselfs back to indy haha
#1 running back went down for 2nd half and was playing hurt for at least 2 carries before that, LB who runs the defense and make a lot of run stops in the middle was playing hurt and had no speed at all(made 2 tackles all day), #1 and #2 RCBs were injured #3 and #4 were playing. Peyton burned them for 22 of his 26 passes. He burned Revis exactly three times, for just over 50 yards. Standard stuff....

All of which significantly weakened the 2 main strengths of this team, the running game and the defensive secondary. Gee, I wonder why the "mighty" Colts were able to come back in the second half ? With all these injuries, You should have blown us out....you didn't.
Funny how they talk smack when they ENTIRELY won a game due to injuries.

3 injured hbs
2 injured dlineman
2 injured linebackers
2 injured safeties
2 injured cornerbacks (maybe 3?)

And indy is gonna talk smack, garbage.

The "Royal T" rant.

To their credit, there were alot of classy Jet fans in that thread giving props to the Colts, but the BEST comment of them all came from an Indy fan:
Why did the Jets have all those injuries?

Because a soft ass, weak, ***** ****ing Colts squad punched your boys in the mouth and CAUSED them. THAT's why!
Bravo!

That one made me laugh as well. The arrogance of some of their fan base in thinking its ok when they trash talk but not ok when it is done to them is hilarious. I do have to give credit where credit it due though. Some of their fans are spot on and understand.
