Penny has always been underappreciated and always will. He's not razzle dazzle and make you say wow kinda QB and that's what this leauge covets. Penny is the solid hard nosed farmer who's up before dawn and works all day until well after dark so that those around him can reap the benefits of his hard labor. Fair? No, but it is just a sign of the times in our bling bling driven society.

Players like Chad Pennington sustain the NFL, guys like Favre are the ones they like to put on TV.
I think if anyone asked Pennington about his performance this season, he would not mention the Pro Bowl snub, he would point to playing in every game so far. -
And, winning 9 of them.

To put it simply, yes.

his importance to this team is unmeasurable. he has been the driving force behind our success.

It depends on whether a Pro Bowl bid is a lifetime achievement award or something that gets awarded based on the season performance (it ought to be the latter, but never is).
Farve's in the middle of the pack of AFC QBs this year. It's absurd that he's in the pro bowl. Just looking at this year, Pennington is better than he is by a comfortable margin. But Rivers got robbed worse than anyone. How Cutler beats him out for a spot is a complete mystery to me. That's not even a contest.
Seems like the voters overrate TD passes and underrate everything else, especially turnovers (yeah, I'm looking at you, Brett).like2god likes this. -
Manning, Rivers and Cutler should have been the choices. But in the end it doesn't really matter, the ProBowl is an individual honor and this is a team game. Other than a couple of players, I can't imagine that any player would rather have an individual honor over a SB. :wink2:sking29 likes this. -
The NFL Pro-Bowl is what it is.
First, its like the College Polls, its not credible, Secondly no one takes it seriously, as some players who are chosen never even attend or cite a questionable injury for not attending.
In short, it becomes a popularity contest.
Let's just say which ever QB wins the last game of the season, wins it in our eyes......?
For those that know me, I wanted to go after Favre 3 years ago when there was some fan and expert dissension, questioning his ability or lack thereof.
At the start of the season, I picked the Jets to win our division and for us to finish 2nd.
I hope I am wrong and we win the AFC East.
There should be enough motivation to win it, as New York, New York, 2 teams different divisions and irrespective of each other stole the show, that no one really cares about.....

penny was robbed
Favre should not be in the probowl. -
Definite rob, but we all knew it was coming. The Pro-Bowl is a popularity contest and has been for a few years. As far as Favre, he's barely sitting on Football Outsider's top 20, which imo has the best and most detailed system of analyzing stats.

I believe Farve was chosen for the ProBowl as soon as he signed with the Jets, barring a total collapse on his part prior to the vote. He's a poster child for the AFC because of his press clippings and not by from performance this year,
Favre has been a great QB but not this year. Its a shame that players who obviously have played better this year are passed over because of what another player has done in the past.calphin likes this. -
