Just the sight of this thread brought a tear to my eye. This place is already better than the site that wont be named.
:bighug: -
Ahhh... Which one should I post in!?!? :D
Well hopefully they do better in football than last year because that was pure crap. -

We got a hell of a class coming in.
Im looking forward to seeing all the young guys develop. I think we got stars in the making at TE,WR,RB and if Claussen isnt the answer then Dayne Christ will be. -
We've brought in some really nice defensive players the last 2 years that I'm looking forward to seeing also. The only good thing about last year was that the young players got a lot of experience. -
9/06/08 SDSU
9/13/07 Michigan
9/20/07 MSU
9/27/07 Purdue
10/04/07 Stanford
10/11/07 UNC
10/25/07 UW
11/01/07 Pitt
11/08/07 BC
11/15/07 Navy
11/22/07 Syracuse
11/29/07 USC
ND's schedule for the coming year. Lose UCLA, GT, Air Force, Duke and PSU and added SDSU, UNC, UW, Pitt and Syracuse.
Lets hope we dont get a replay of UM/App St with that SDSU game. That game just screams of a trap with Michigan the following week. -
If we don't win 5 or more. I'd be really disappointed with the season with that schedule.

Good news outta South Bend is that Sam Young has gained 30 pounds and is at 330 and Beastly. With him going back to LT and Trevor Robinson, Braxton Cave, Mike Golic coming in the line should be better.

GO BLUE!!! haha :up:DonShula84 likes this. -
I read that Jimmy Clausen has gained 17 pounds and is up to 224. Should help him take all those hits, though hopefully he's taking a few less this year. Guy needed to get a little bigger so it's good to see him working hard.
-
Sounds like David Bruton has been working hard in the offseason. He had flashes of being good last year, hopefully he can build on that because the guy is loaded with talent.
-
Don how is ND's Oline? Big improvement or is Clausen going to be a punching bag?
-
There's more depth it just depends on how quickly they come together. I cant imagine them being much worse.screamer likes this. -
First depth chart released. I was hoping Golden Tate would be a bit higher, but I suppose he has time to move up. Obviously doesnt include the incoming freshman either so this will change a lot.

I think Trevor Robinson and Braxton Cave will play significant roles in the oline this year.

Jake Golic committed to ND, first commit for 09.

Nice job beating Michigan in college hockey.

Rivals #2 ranked RB and #3 overall ranked player RB Cierre Wood committed to Notre Dame. He's from Oxnard Ca, sucks for USC :)

ND also got a commit from 4 star DT Tyler Stockton.

:woot: off to a good start to the 09 recruiting season. -

We got some really talented running backs.
JR.- James Aldridge
SO.- Armando Allen
SO.- Robert Hughes
FR.- Jonas Gray
Commit- Cierre Wood -
ND added another RB to the class of 09. NJ 4 star RB Theo Riddick committed today. The RB depth is pretty ridiculous. That's 6 deep and all were/are highly rated prospects. If the oline comes together, we're going to be running over a lot of people.

Video of Cierre Wood, the opening of the video brought a smile to my face "WEareSC" productions, lol.

Doesnt have to do with ND football, but it's still ND. Ben Hansbrough, Tyler's brother, is transfering to ND. I only saw him play a little in the tourney for Mississippi St. Seems like a good get by Brey though. He has to sit out next year but that means he can step in when McAlarney graduates.
Scott Martin of Purdue is also looking at transferring to ND. Maybe the basketball team can build on the success it had this season.Last edited: May 1, 2008 -
Grats to the great Lou Holtz for getting inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame!

He's an amazing coach, and seems like such a nice guy not sure how anyone could dislike him. His violations at SC were nothing, he wasnt paying players, or doing really anything big imo. And most of what I've read from SC sources is that he had nothing to do with the violations that did take place. I have no knowledge of a legacy of shady behavior, he was clean at ND as far as I know and I havent heard anything about his time at Arkansas. Anything he allegedly did has been done by plenty of people, it isnt nearly enough to keep him out of the hof. -
Sorry, for the delay.
Holtz was a winning Head Coach. That's about all I can say for him. My opinion of him is that he's a snake oil salesman, and a damn good one at that. This is the same guy who said he was leaving ND so he could stay with his very ill wife. Same guy that spent that next year on his motivational speech tour.
I could have sworn Arkansas was sanctioned by the NCAA for violations under Holtz's tenure, but I'm having trouble finding it now. I'm not so hot at the google thing :o
Minnesota was put on probation for violations when Holtz was there.
Notre Dame was put on probation for violations when Holtz was there.
Same thing with S.C.
I realize our standards for what is "bad" have been lowered after so head coaching turds. However, IIRC USC was nailed for 10 violations, with 6 being "major".
About the only thing Holtz hasn't done or been charged with, is giving gifts/money. If that is all that's "bad", then fine. However, he is sold, and sells himself as this happy little grandpa with the squeaky clean image. I see a phony.
Holtz did lead 6 teams to bowl games, and he won a NCAA title with ND. His coaching career was certainly very good. Just on the face of his career, I can see him being considered for the HoF. I can't get past the stains he left behind though. -

Weis continues to pull recruits out of NJ. 4 star LB Carlo Calabrese picked ND over Rutgers today. Another nice defensive recruit to add to the mix. Florida was recruiting him also so I'm sure this commitment just means Meyer will have to increase the amount of calls he makes to Carlo...

I think White knew he was on the way out after this year so he took a good job when it was offered. Wish him luck, except when ND plays Duke ;)
I wonder if the new AD will continue his work of dumbing down the schedule and playing on neutral sites for recruiting reasons.
